Young Syrian refugee selflessly offered her cookie to a Hungarian police officer

Yahoo Canada News – Fri, 11 Sep, 2015, Source

NBC reporter Carlo Angerer snapped the youngster, who has not been identified, on his mobile phone by railway tracks near the city of Szeged.

The child’s family was reportedly trying to board a train so they could travel to either Austria or Germany and claim asylum.

The officer, who has also not been identified but was tasked with preventing refugees from leaving the area, has his hands up in the air.

He appears to be turning down the generous offer.

The image, which has now gone viral, is quite the contrast to the hard-hitting images coming out of Hungary in recent days.

“During standoff on railway tracks near Szeged, a young refugee offers a cookie to a Hungarian police officer,” it was captioned by Angerer.

He later revealed that the girl’s family “was with a group of people that had run north from RÖszke camp yesterday.”
