There was a simple grammar book we used in primary school. I think it's called "English Grammar" by Davidson and Allcock. Maybe Gilly, Mitwah or some other senior one can recall.

I can recall my English textbook was gray.

I remember during my days, the book might have looked like this one:

Hammers and chisels were not invented yet. We used stone tools to write on the tablets. You rass never had a slate and pencil?
