His’s responsibilities cover:

  • fiscal policy (including the presenting of the annual Budget) WELL DONE. HE DID THIS
  • over sight of monetary policy, which is managed by the Bank of Guyana (WHAT DO YOU THINK?  DID HE REVEAL ANY POLICY ON HOW HE PLAN TO DO THIS?)
  • economic development as the custodian of the national development strategy. (VERY FEW AND AFAR - NOT MUCH BEING DONE ON STATE PLANNING)

The Minister just presented a US$110 million budget.  There are no new taxes but he cut revenues and increase salaries.  The man is insane.

The economy is slowing down.  They should have raised the excise taxes on alcohol and import taxes on cigarettes. This would have given them US$30 million each year. Their budget is only US$110 million. Rice and sugar should also be taxed. Another US$5 million would have been useful.

Increased taxes on Alcohol and cigarettes is a good

move, for rice and sugar both are struggling taxes

on the two i will assume will not be a good idea.

Who pays for the increase of salaries(robbing the treasury)? They just print extra $1000.00 bills and hand them out? Who do they shortchange by increasing salaries? The rich gets richer and the poor gets shafted. Same Shit, Different Day(or should we say different government?).
