AFC has big credibility problems after bondoogling people with fake promises 2015-18. Lost trust is not easily regained. And I sense the powerful PNC wants a crippled AFC. Volda's exhortation "DON'T VOTE YELLOW" is still resonating in people's ears. I hear some folks are already touting another Third Force idea. As for the option of withdrawing from the coalition, I don't think the AFC is willing and able for that dare.

Let's think about a share of government between the PPP and PNC. The president and Prime Minister change every two years. All other parties will fall by the wayside, in addition strict ethics laws for government officials to abide.

Oil wealth is coming, now who to trust with our treasury. Seek professional and international help to create a strong and stable government for all Guyanese.

Shared government between the PPP and PNC were almost ready by discussions between Cheddi Jagan and Forbes Burnham in 1984/1985.

However, Burnham died in 1985 and the new leadership of the PNC did not pursue the issues.

While a merger between the PPPC and PNCR would be a good approach; there will be numerous individuals who would leave both parties to either form other party/parties or perhaps retire from politics.

NO! NO! NO! We would be left with a one party kleptocracy. The only thing they agree to is TEEFING. They will teef with impunity with NO ONE to stop them.

In fact Jagdeo probably already told the ageing soldiers that he would take care of them if the PPP wins.  It does look like APNU was/is quite lackluster.

The PNC supporters will be hung out to dry by a vengeful Jagdeo.  Poor Guyana. I dread its future.

AFC should have NEVER form a coalition with any political party.

By being an independent political party they could have been a game changer in the political spectrum in Guyana...the third force.

A large section of Guyanese was screaming for a long time for change...then Obama and friends stepped in and the rest is history...

In concluding comrades ...because we are a third world country...we are at the mercy of massa...forever

In my opinion...third world countries will forever be first world toys..

A PPP dominated Guyana would not have worked out for the AFC so they had to form an alliance and the only party strong enough to make a difference was the PNC.

The AFC's problem is that Nagamootoo had loose lips during the 2015 campaign, attempting to reassure the disaffected PPP supporters that they need not fear a Granger led gov't as he ultimately had the power.  I heard him say that and I watched Granger's face when he said that.  A kind of look that said "you have to be mad if you think that I will allow you to do this."

So the PNC and the GT AFC quickly moved to sideline the Berbice AFC.  While that part of the AFC did deliver campaign contributions it didn't deliver votes, nor did it have the muscle to mount proper campaigning in PPP strongholds. APNU had to bus in their supporters to these meetings.

The AFC was always weak and should have focused on strengthening its infrastructure, which would have allowed them to bring in more votes and have a better negotiating position with the PNC.

So Naga was weak as was Ramjattan and the GT AFC elites cooperated with the PNC.  And the rest is history.

The AFC didn't handle their alliance with APNU because they were too weak to do so.  Nagamootoo didn't deliver votes in 2015 from his Berbice base, couldn't prove that he had a base beyond Berbice, and every honest person knows this.

The only hope for Guyana is if the PPP admits that its ethnic exclusionary tactics during its 23 years of power cannot sustain Guyana in the future as the Indian population is declining.   The PPP thinks that it can survive with an Indian/Amerindian alliance, but aside from votes what strength do Amerindians bring to the table?

Dislodging the PPP was good for the cleansing of Guyana

to the AFC’s eternal credit

it’s a process

most (not all) of the so-called ‘disappointeds’ would prefer PPP tiefman raping the country  . . . because they are kith and kin

i know this because they know that AFC as a 3rd party confronting the PPP governing with a parliament minority could not prevent the major planks of the Jagdeo pillaging . . . courtesy of the much beloved Burnham constitution

The AFC was more valuable with there one seat than within the belly of any beast!!

How so?  Were things getting done between 2011 and 2015.  The PPP screamed that they had the mandate as they had most of the seats and the APNU/AFC coalition blocked them at every turn.

The point is that greed and avarice among ageing PNC and AFC geriatrics prevented the Coalition from functioning the way that it should have.  Had they not gone for that salary grab they would looked better to the Guyanese populace.  But that stunt within a mere few weeks of gaining office undermined their credibility and reduce any tolerance for subsequent mistakes made by them.  Their honey moon period ended right then.
