Jagdeo leads walk out of budget debates after declaring “flawed” budget will flatline economy

Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo lashed out at Minister of Finance Winston Jordan over the $221 Billion 2015 budget which is the first of the three-month old, APNU+AFC coalition government.

In a rambling late night presentation, Mr. Jagdeo went over his allotted speaking time of one hour by more than 30 minutes as he warned the government that the measures in the budget will not offer any development but will rather bring a halt to economic activity.

Jagdeo spent much of his time during revisiting the pre 1992 period and the budgets presented by then Minister of Finance Carl Greenidge under the PNC government. He said the PPP inherited bankrupt economy in 1992 but left a strong and vibrant economy when it was booted out of office three months ago.

He said under the PNC, there were no proper systems in place for investment and privatization and it was his party that made changes to those systems when it took office in 1992.

Jagdeo is no airhead like Jagan, he is more pragmatic and have a realistic strategy.

He is just a rotten dirty crook and not to be used in the same sentence as Cheddi. He has no means to make a living so he just pimps the state for his daily bread.

The present culture of the PPP is wholly a creation of this girly man and his crooked schemes. That he is able to completely dominate the party is astounding. Where have all the strong PPP men gone?

This gov't is off to a terrible start.  Why Lindeners are paying $5 per kilowatt while Berbicians and others have to pay $53 per Kilowatt? Is this right? 

Lindeners are on a distinct grid functioning efficiently and BOSAI is able to produce electricity cheaply. Brazzington is assessing it the same cost as the haplessly inefficient GPL because GPL wants to resell the electricity at the higher cost so they make money  on the backs of lindeners. The subsidy here you presume to exist is a paper subsidy created by Hollywood accounting of the PPP. I wish the subsidy to the sugar industry was paperweight as this one.

Perhaps in time, those in the MacKenzie area will pay $1.00 while those in the Berbice area will pay $81.00 per kilowatt.
