Veteran Guyanese pilot Ayube Mahazarally was on Tuesday, September 29 found hanging inside his Kingston, Georgetown home.

Details are sketchy but sources told iNews that the man was last seen at home and in the Kingston area on Saturday.

However, when his absence became of worry to neighbours, who on Tuesday were alerted to the terrible stench coming from the home, the police was called in.

Neighbours’ worst fears were confirmed when police found Mahazarally’s swollen body hanging from the roof with a rope around his neck.

He is suspected to have committed suicide and a police investigation is under-way.

The now dead retiree lived alone in the Kingston home. His wife and other close family members live abroad.

Efforts to contact other members of the Mahazarally family in Guyana, including Air Services Limited Executive Annette Arjoon were unsuccessful.

Details emerging.

This looks suspicious.

Total nonsense.

My condolences to the family.

A political spin on people's unfortunate experience is the norm by warped insensitive individuals. Even in a shameless manner.

Quite troubling...no letter, nothing.

This doesn't look like a suicide to me. Further investigations required. I remember a similar case around 1972 in Suriname. It turned out to be a drugs cartel execution. One of the victims was a girl that went to the girls school across from the boys school that I went to.

Pilot found dead in recently-acquired home

AYUBE Mazahar Ally, 46, was yesterday morning found hanging by a bag strap from the stairs of his Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara home.
The father of two had recently moved into the Lot 166 Granville Park house in which his bloated remains was found, and was reportedly in the final stages of paying for.

According to information reaching the Guyana Chronicle, Mazahar Ally was last seen late last week, but there was no sign of him all weekend, nor on Monday.

It took a security guard who works at the gated community to use his initiative and run the log book, only to find that there was no record to show that Mazahar Ally either left or entered the premises.

Realising that something was not right, the guard next called the man’s house, but got no answer. And to compound matters, he was also getting a strange smell from the house, which is what prompted him to call the police at the Beterverwagting Police Station.

Police sources who visited the house where the incident took place explained that the man’s body was so badly decomposed, it was partly touching the stairs.

Also, the back door was open, as was the door to the verandah, which was how a police rank was able to access the premises, with the aid of a ladder.

Persons in the area yesterday afternoon told this publication that Mazahar Ally was not in the habit of communicating with other persons from the gated community.

Ayube Mazahar Ally worked as a pilot at several of the domestic air service providers at the Ogle Airport, but mostly with Air Services Limited, the owners of which he is related to. (Leroy Smith)

Looks like an assassination. I suspect drugs running is involved.

Sad day!  Ayube was my best friend during National Service.  An extremely kind-hearted guy who used to share everything he had with me during National Service because he knew I couldn't afford stuff.  His father was one of the Mahazarally brothers who was in a wheel chair. He would fly in to visit Ayube at Kimbia.  Rest in peace my friend.

1983/84...if I remember correctly.  Spent time at Kimbia, Camp Cocus near Belfield (Burnham slave camp) and Port Kaituma.  I loved Kimbia.
