US Secretary of State to visit

Mike Pompeo
Mike Pompeo

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is due to visit Guyana on September 17-18, according to well-places sources.

He would be the highest-ranked US government official to visit Guyana in decades.

The visit would come amid the personal role he played in ensuring that the legally elected government from the March 2nd general elections was sworn into office.

The two-day trip would be seen as an expression of confidence in the PPP/C government and a signal of deeper cooperation between the two countries. The visit also comes in the backdrop of pivotal local discussions on a key ExxonMobil development and continuing tension between Washington and Guyana’s neighbour, Venezuela.

This is a very strong validation of the PPP's government. VIPs only visit other VIPs.

Maybe, it is a validation of 'Behave yourself, we keeping an eye on you Jagdeo." Soviet trained, Putinisque aspirations of Leader for Life and doan try to tap into the Russian influences in Venezuela. And when we ready to invade Venezuela do not even squeak because the assault will be from Guyana. Before the November elections it will happen.

That is fine too. The US is the leader of the world for a good reason. It would be foolish to disagree with the US. If the US were to invade Venezuela most of the Venezuelans would be happy. And they would be grateful to Guyana for any assistance in that effort. Lastly, if it happens before the November elections it will guarantee the Venezuelans a joyous Christmas just like Guyanese will also be having a joyous Christmas.

You have come to love Trump.

The above with Venezuela is a valid issue and.......

The PPP should not pump their chest too large with his visit, because the Americans don't do anything for nothing. Their glut and greed for oil is challenging elsewhere and they see Guyana as an easy pushover.

Jagdeo and Ali are no match for what the Americans did to other countries. So be careful of Pompeo bearing gifts with a visit.

ExxonMobile already has a foundation in Guyana and Pompeo's visit  is looking after the American interest. Similar to the Chinese, research what the Americans did to other developing countries with resources that they demand, sometimes by force.

It is from where I look. But I respect your opinion.

Whenever there is a crisis in the world it looks toward the US for substantive leadership and relief.

This is not true, Trump's selfishness changed all that, by eroding the assistance and distancing partners. Americans are in other countries due to their self interest. Even US Peace Corps volunteers have to provide detail reports. Why is Trump now removing American troops from the Mid East ?

Plus Canadians initiated the UN Peace Keepers, that has been more effective around the world.

Perhaps you need to ease on your intake of the South Florida Swamp water. The US is not the leader of the world.

....It "Used to look toward the US"

A few months ago Trump was very angry at the high level of incompetence at the WHO and he threatened to stop funding to it. The whole world went into a fit. If the US was not the leader of the world why didn't any other country or group of countries come out and say "no worries, we don't need America. We got this covered. Here is what the world is hoping to get from America net year. Which other country comes anywhere close to providing that kind of financial assistance to the world. And we still haven't even talked about the military protection we provide to the world. People around the world may not like Trump but the reality is that they are still not doing more than him (US) as a benefactor to the world. Trump was right to threaten to cut funding to the WHO because it is a highly incompetent organization only intent on sucking money from the US treasury.

Pompeo is going to Guyana to look after American interests.  He doesn't give a damn about democracy, Jagdeo or Ali.  He will make sure that Exxon gets what it wants and that Guyana allow free access to US troops in any military operations against Venezuela.

School these Jagdeo and Ali fanatics.

Any poster has the right to use this unknown phrase. Its certain people taking ownership of it, that's the problem. Also, is anyone on this forum drinking South Florida swamp water ?

If I should say 'PERHAPS you need to ease up on your intake of the Lake Ontario swamp water' would it also be a  problem ?  Don't be petty.

The forum indicates posters should  be thick skin, so let them grow some balls and accept similar to what they dish out. Instead of bothering the moderator.

Many Guyanese cusses out the US and Canada but still run to those countries for shelter from the PNC, then they blame the PPP for their problems.

Mits, stop whining, you insult people when they speak their mind.

Are you drunk? I am speaking up for my rights being violated.

Show where I insult people when they speak their mind.

Fact: More people ran from Guyana under the PPP than under the PNC.

The people who migrated under the PPP didn't run. They went to join their families. You are right about more people migrated under the PPP because most of them were blacks. I witnessed that You didn't. You are talking out of turn.

You are a stupid ass., You insult people every day as you did with this post.

You are 100 times more of a stupid ass and drunk too, this early Sunday morning.

Why don't you move back to Guyana now that your PPP is back in power?
