Turkey coup attempt: Erdoğan demands US arrest exiled cleric Gülen amid crackdown on army – as it happened

What is the Gülenist movement, and why does Recep Tayyip Erdoğan consider it an existential threat?

My colleagues in London explain, and Amana Fontanella-Khan reports from Fethullah Gülen’s compound in central Pennsylvania.

I now remember this Imam from several years ago. He believes Islam can only grow by peaceful conversion and education. He had some problems with the number of religious people he was hiring in his American schools while getting money from the state. Some problems like that.

It's time to report these people to the FBI. Even if they seem peacefully and they're your neighbors, let the FBI know that you are living next to a potential terrorist. Thank God for Trump and his running mate, who both agreed to suspend all Muslims from entering the U.S. This is getting frustrated for all Americans.

I am not a man who follows much religion. But every year I sponsor an Urdu class at a Pakistani centre. I don't know two words in Urdu. But for me the survival of our heritage and culture is important. This year I am planning to give §100 dollars to the Hari khrisna organization of Vancouver and next year I am giving §100 dollars to the Maharishi University. I don't know two things about hinduism but that is not the point. These people are trying to keep our heritage and culture alive. So I don't see anything wrong with what that Iman was alleged to have done.

I would not rush to judgement on this.  Turkey is a complicated joint and the US tend to be on both sides.  The US remained mum on the coup until the Govt was winning, then Obama took a position on principle!

This guy has been granted asylum, you can bet, the US knows what he is doing.  He is not lost in the shuffle!
