People are practicing vile and disgusting public behavior in the presence of children and then have these kids join them in provocative chants. I was saddened when I saw this, because I was hopeful that a new dawn of peace and love was upon Gy.

After seeing that display I realize that it does not matter which political party is in power it will be very challenging to bridge the racial divide. What should happen, IMO, is that no matter which political party wins the election, some members of the other political party should be invited to be a part of the government. If the PPP wins I really do think that Granger should be offered a position in the government, I think that he is a decent man.

where were u when Courtney Crum-Ewing was pumped full of bullets at the beginning of the election campaign?

where was your parallel outrage when Anil Nandlall disgraced Guyana with his intimation of mass murder?

THOSE were much, much, much more "vile and disgusting" . . . no?

I am responding to what I saw on a video..I am not even politicizing it anywhere in my post, please do not do that to my thread.

Once in a while detach yourself from your emotions and respond objectively and have a sane discussion. The world is not binary.

Why would I worry about a few powerless people acting out? What is vile and disgusting is the massive crony capitalism practiced by the PPP. The obscenity is in their contempt for us as they siphon up state assets to make themselves grotesquely rich. Priya is in office only 8 years and this former pencil wrapper has sprawling squats.  Why am I to worry about some powerless creature seeking ways to express the injury of  their impoverishment at the hands of the PPP crooks by pissing on a flag?

I am worried about the seeds that are planted in the minds of the young and I am positive that this is happening on both sides of the divide. It has to stop.

The PPP has not dealt with the problem of noise, reckless driving, open garbage dumping everywhere in the nation, poor manners, failure of credentialing agencies to perform without bribes, failure of the police to make a dent in crime.....As the saying goes, if you cannot take care of the little things who wonder why the big things fail to fall into place?

That is pure nonsense.  No democracy can function without a strong and effective opposition.  How can this occur if the opposition has some of its members in the governing structure.

What is needed was an attempt to address the African and Indian ethnic insecurity angst.  The PNC to some degree has addressed this by giving the AFC more power in the coalition gov't than they will represent in the votes that they most likely will bring in.  The PM will have a much more defined role in shaping govt, making appointments to state agencies, and will have 40% of the cabinet positions.

Given that no one expects the PPP to only get 20 seats with the AFC getting 12 seats, that means that should they withdraw the APNU gov't will tumble as it will not be able to withstand an MONC.  Clearly the PPP will jump at that opportunity, and even if the AFC abstains the APNU govt tumbles.

So this isn't a kumba ya moments of fake pretense that all is OK.  This is a structure which will FORCE the Moses led AFC (which has a support base with a large % of Indians) and the Granger led APNU (mainly African/mixed) to negotiate.

I do not see within the PPP structure any concession to the fact that most Africans and mixed people feel threatened by them.  And some token gesture isn't going to cut it.  The PPP has done this since 1992 and here we have blacks lined up against them out of fear.

And it will only stop when Africans and Indians are made to feel safe regardless as to who wins.  Right now they don't and they have valid reasons for this.

I disagree...until there is constitutional reform I think inclusiveness is good, it will send an important message to the base. Ultimately what is most needed is constitutional reform. Until such time I personally would like to see Mr. Granger as part of any government either as leader or as an active member.

If the PPP wins and they select a PNC person then most black people will see them as a stooge.  Sam Hinds is an example, as is Elizabeth Harper.

How will the PPP be an effective opponent to APNU AFC if they select 3 PPP leaders?  What happens is that you create a crony clique with no one to speak out on it.

Nothing else has worked so far Carib...best case it works...worst case it brings about badly needed constitutional reform...but this winner takes all does not work in Gy..and never will....

What Guyana has never really tried is a multi racial coalition within the context of a democratic system with a strong opposition.

That the PPP choses to remain mono racial is their business.  They have long tried to find toothless black tokens with no clout to pretend otherwise.  Black people aren't buying it.

If Ramotar had incorporated a few PNC people within their administration there would be no opposition and the PPP would continue to steal, with PNC permission.  I don't see what that achieves.

They are stealing Guyanese assets. Pradoville did not rise from the hard work of those crooks but by granting themselves special concessions. BTW coolie peeps dont own guyana. It is the benefaction of all.
