“Unwell” President Granger goes to Cuba for medical “investigation”

President David Granger goes to Cuba on Tuesday for a medical “investigation”, a senior government minister confirmed.

Coming on the heels of a terse announcement by the Guyana government with no stated reason for the trip, People’s National Congress Reform General Secretary, Amna Ally said the President is not expected to undergo surgery but is due for a medical test in Havana.

“I’m sure that you would have heard that he is not well and that he is going to do an investigation as to what might be his problem,” Ally told Demerara Waves Online News.

Ally said the President met with “all his PNC cabinet ministers” on Monday.

The Guyanese leader’s decision follows a private visit to Trinidad at the peak of severe flooding earlier this month.  He and his wife had gone there earlier this year for what government had said had been an annual medical check-up. The President did not attend this year’s United Nations General Assembly, citing pressing issues at home.

Granger,73, is due to return to Guyana on November 11, which effectively means he will miss last-lap campaigning for Local Government Elections and will return to Guyana just in time to vote on November 12.

Ally said Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo will be performing the duties of President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carl Greenidge will be performing the duties of Prime Minister.

In recent weeks, Granger appeared to have lost a few pounds and at times his speech has slurred while delivering public addresses.

Though I wish him well, I am still baffled to understand why politicians are not seeking medical check-ups in their own country. When politicians don't trust their own medical professionals, that speaks volume for the ordinary people.

This is when I wish to be a mind reader to test everyone's honesty of wishing Granger well. This shows love and respect for a neemakaram, crabdaag, dictator Granger from the PPP backers.

DG, I am not questioning your honesty. This is a feeling I am sensing that most PPP well wishers would like to see this gentleman crabdaag drop dead in a hurry. Nah true that?

Let me give all you a little advice of loving your enemies. Remember when Chaves went to Cuba and believed Cuban doctors are beyond God? On his last breath he begged them to keep him alive, but God said no to the Spanish neemakaram. He wanted to preserve his body like Burnham, but he started to rot and Maduro shove his ass wan carna. I am not calling names, but any leader that follows Cheves way of leading, he has to meet his maker one day. So, loving your enemy is questionable, especially if you believe he is a dictator.

I could hear Nehru praying for our dear leader. Lol

Its simply because of 3 reasons, I suspect:

1) We dont know what the ailments that he might be afflicted with are. It may require more sophisticated testing and medical analysis which Guyana does not have the capability of handling. Guyana's health care system and medical leaves a lot to be desired.

2) Its possible also that Granger does not trust the medical system in Guyana. Cuba, Trinidad, and other countries in the region, from what I have read, have way more advanced medical technology compared to Guyana. Granger is simply taking precautions...remember Burnham died on the operating table.

3) Granger is an educated person, unlike most poor Guyanese who dont know better, especially as a person as advanced in age as he is. No harm in taking precautions. Moses and others did have medical treatment outside of Guyana....I am guessing too that the government is fitting the bill.

And, then there was a PPP minister who had his crooked teeth fixed and polished (not sure if he paid from personal expense, but there was a news story about this).

Banna, its not nice to wish ill health on a person seeking medical attention.

You should not question DG motive/intentions.

Fabricating issues seems to be your focus.

He has issues alright. He is incoherent and babbling all over the place.
