The U.S. Embassy in Georgetown condemns the resolution by Guyana’s National Assembly, reportedly honoring the life and work of convicted terrorist Abdul Kadir.

In a statement to the media, The US Embassy stated that Kadir was sentenced to life in prison in the United States after being found guilty of plotting a 2007 terrorist attack at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

Convicted terrorist Abdul Kadir

“Members of the National Assembly, therefore, chose to honor a man who conspired to kill innocent people from across the United States and around the world.  This resolution is an insensitive and thoughtless act, which demonstrates the National Assembly’s disregard for the gravity of Kadir’s actions”.

While speaking at an International Peace Conference recently, U.S. Ambassador Sarah-Ann Lynch held up Guyana as “a model to the world on religious tolerance and understanding.”

The National Assembly’s resolution of April 26, 2019 draws into question that reputation.  It also comes on the heels of Guyana’s historic cooperation with the United States on the extradition of an alleged murderer.

“Members of Parliament have placed this resolution in direct contradiction to the efforts of security cooperation between our two countries”, the release added.

Further, it added that with this resolution, honoring a convicted terrorist, members of Guyana’s National Assembly have left a stain on their legacy as representatives of the Guyanese people and on their commitment to the rule of law.

Thats because Jagan was a misguided communist...not fully understanding the implications of his ideology and his loyalty to Russia.

Some people will say that he was responsible for the mess Guyana is in today.

Orlando Bosch studied at university at the same time as Castro. He knew Castro and Castro knew him long before Castro came to power.

This is an indication to me that:

a) Guyana is leaderless, with Granger not able to contain, control and restrain the members of his own party

b) This act, cannot be blamed on the OPPOSITION. The members of the coalition voted unanimously...with everyone casting their support

c) This incident cannot be compared to the Charandass arrair...Lincoln Lewis, as much as I admire his leadership for the downtrodden and poor in Guyana, has lost all credibility with his letter of support.

d) The US should deny visa requests from the key Guyanese Parliamentarians who voted to honor this terrorist...

The Coalition has more to worry about, not just the elections...

How shameful it was when the US announced that a former member of Guyana's parliament plotted to blow up JFK airport in NY. NY has the biggest Guyanese population outside of Guyana. Kadir made brought  shame and disgrace to Guyanese at home and abroad.

The level of orgasm in that Assembly must have been sky high as those 33 fools celebrated honoring a man convicted of terrorism knowing fully well that no member of the Opposition was there to advise them against it.
