By Aaron Barker - Senior Web Editor

HOUSTON - The second tropical storm of the Atlantic hurricane season formed Monday off the coast of Guyana.

The National Hurricane Center said Tropical Storm Bret was located about 125 miles southeast of Trinidad and was moving west-northwest at 30 mph. The storm had sustained winds of 40 mph.

Tropical storm warnings were issued for many of the southern Windward Islands, including Trinidad, Tobago and Grenada.

Tropical storm watches were issued for many of the islands off the northern coast of South America.

Bret is forecast to remain a tropical storm through Wednesday morning.

This is not the same system that moved into the Gulf of Mexico on Monday.
