The P.P.P/C Government has over the years, remained instrumental in the development of requisite policies and programmes, to foster the type of growth and expansion that has catapulted the sector to a position where it has surpasses the level of being food secure to large scale exploration of agriculture produce.
Enhance emphasis continues to be placed on the implementation of a successful agriculture diversification strategy, as the administration remains committed to the promotion of non-traditional crops and livestock which have potential for expansion.
New and emerging sectors of the economy, which will increase contribution to the national economy, are also being expanded, to complement the performance of the traditional sectors, rice sugar and bauxite. This year, $1.5B has been allocated for agriculture diversification compared to $1.3B for 2010

While the traditional sectors have been the backbone of the economy, Government has embarked on a massive diversification programme, with the aim of expanding and developing sub-sectors. This has reaped major successes, over the years, as significant investments continue to be made to ensure advanced technologies are implemented.
In 2011, $9.2B was allocated to the agriculture sector, compared to $8B in the previous year. This has aided in the successful delivery of planned programes, under the Ministry's capital and current expenditure.
Huge sums are also being spent on training, to assist with good agricultural practices and improved productivity. $13,192 farmers in the ten administrative regions.

What the PPP should be talking about after this time is downstreaming and signing trade deals to take off Guyana's output. You guys are a joke. All you talk about is sugar an rice, well that was there since the British days. Surprise us with something we don't already know. Alyuh coming up shart deh Albutt.

In keeping with its aim to diversify agricultural products and increase the level of production, the Ministry of Agriculture launched a Small Farmers Group Financial Facility in January. The project falls under the aegis of the US $6.9M rural Enterprise and Agriculture Development Project (READ) and a US$22.9M Agriculture Export Diversification (ADP), Programme.

Guyanese are not scared of working hard, as the majority of emigrants have had to do in order to achieve something. Imagine if those left behind in Guyana had the same jobs to apply for back home, and the same level of hands on management to get the jobs done in time and within budget.

The PPP and PNC have instead filled important ministries with friends who were relaxed about the pace of things, or whether projects got completed on time and in budget.
