Actually when I was in Ukraine, they were much into Bollywood. Under the Soviets, seems Indian movies were few of the foreign movies allowed. 

Also Russians are in to Bollywood Movies,years ago in a conversation an older Russian said he liked Raj Kapoor movies.

Russians are into boliywood movies big time. This Russian guy I worked with said when he was young his parents took him to many bollywood movies. He said when cinema sold out, they would put bench in the passage way and yes, Nuff eyewater as well.Empire and Liberty cinema style.

I'll watch this YT clip later. Raj Kapoor was a frequent VIP in the former Soviet Union. He shot his movie Mera Naam Joker there. Dharmendra acted as a circus gymnast alongside a Russian girl.

Probably one of the reasons,he was liked by the Russians and have may fans.
