A group of rice farmers numbering around 100 today staged a picketing exercise outside the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of the Presidency which is located in close proximity. The farmers were led by Dharamkumar Seeraj of the Guyana Rice Producers Association. The farmers called on the APNU+AFC government to fulfill it promise of between $6000 to $9000 per bag of paddy, made while on the campaign trail and they also wanted to know the whereabouts of the $23B for rice support contained in 2015 Budget.

They obviously lied to the rice farmers more than once. Dr. Jagdeo Pinpoint that $23B allocated in the budget for rice farmers. Rice farmers should never given the cause to stand in the street to protest for their money. This never happen under the PPP.
