Dear friends and supporters, this election campaign was long and arduous. However, the love and warmth, demonstrated by your support made it a humbling and enjoyable experience for me. I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you.
At every one of my public meetings throughout this country I said to you that this election was about freedom and democracy. I am vindicated. We were cheated,not defeated. They did it to Cheddi Jagan and they have done it again. Cheddi Jagan never faltered. He persevered until he won back democracy and freedom for the Guyanese people. So will we. To us,Government was never the end, it was merely a means to an end. The end is to create a just and united Guyana, where all our people are allowed to realise their aspirations and dreams. And where the constitutional rights of our people reign supreme.
We now must commit to continue this new phase of the struggle. I will be in it with you to the end. The Parliament, the Judiciary and more so, every village will be our battleground.
I will begin by launching a legal challenge to this election. It will be pursued all the way to the Caribbean Court of Justice,if that is necessary. In short, I will do everything that is legally possible to ensure that every single vote for the PPP / C is counted. History will vindicate us. I am counting on your continued support. Please remain calm and do not be provoked. We are planning to meet you countrywide soon. A luta continua!
