Until the day comes when Hinduism accepts all hindus as being EQUAL I will not be taking part in any Diwali or pagwah festivals.

Prash,

Happy Diwali.

Listen, no Vedic scripture mentions the word Hinduism.

They mention Sanatana (Eternal) Dharma. Our eternal occupation is to love and serve god and our fellow man.

Krsna mentions in Bhagavad Gita that he is the seed Giving Father of ALL living entities. He is not partial to anyone. We are all spirit souls, we are not White, Blacks, Indos, Chinese etc.

This assumption that so call Hinduism discriminates is completely wrong and is not accordance to our scriptures. The caste Bramhanas from India created division to remain at the top of a system that they created.

I broke away from that Caste Bramhana system a long time ago. I do not support the idea that one race or religion is superior than the other. No scripture even support the idea of supremacy over others.

My God Brothers are from all races, White, Blacks, Indos, Chinese, Jews and yes, they are Bramhanas too. We are Iskcon and are breaking the notion of the supremacy of one over the other. No one is superior. We are equal in the eyes of Krsna.

I hope this clarifies the position of our Dharma. Please do not confuse it with a man made system.

Thanks Yuji. It makes me feel better. In January I met a untouchable guy who is now an accountant he converted to buddhaism. He told me that he converted to buddhaism after some untouchable people went into a high caste village in India and were brutally murdered because of their caste. Since then it has got me thinking about the matter.

The bible does not mention Christianity and it is less a cobbled text than the hindu sacred scriptures. The idea of Bharat... is what  gives life to the label "Hindu". It is geographically the land of the seven rivers, that is, sapta sindu, and linguistic drift gives the "h" in "hindu". Apparently there were seven rivers known to the people of the area.

The word is an umbrella term from all derivatives of Samkhyaism which apparently is the progenitor philosophy of all forms or Hinduism of which there are at least a dozen.

The rest of your assumptions are all debatable and not essentialist ie the  traditions or customs with respect to the umbrella of faith doctrines we call Hinduism. Samkhyaism seems on all accounts to meet this criteria.

Sorry to remind you that when you met that "untouchable guy", you met yourself. Guyanese are essentially from some 20 tribal groups or jats who were considered "untouchable", harijan or dalits.

You should be thinking on the matter because, these disadvantaged groups who did all the horribly dirty work in India and were per the Manusmriti, the legal text of Brahmins, you would be subject to death if your shadow falls on a holy site, designated holy person or etc and that is still largely maintained in the faith of the in India.

That dalits, came to guyana and became a new people is what is magnificent about Hinduism in Guyana. There are no parallels to it in India even if we use the same liturgical traditions and follow the same holy texts. For Hindus in guyana, many traditions maintained in India as practice of Hinduism does not fit with Hinduism as practiced here be it Sanatan Dharm, Arya or even Buddhism.

Thank you Bhai DG.  I would love to bring you some Bhojan, Biganie, Bara, Mittai, Sweet Rice, Vermicelli Cake, Allo and Channa and Bigan and Edda but you too far away.

You are most welcomed, bhai Nehru.

You do remembered that the very special one in my life is a Hindu young lady from India whose parents live close to the Taj Mahal.

I get all of those items and while eating, I will remember you.
