President David Granger has confirmed that former Finance Minister Carl Greenidge and former Budget Director Winston Jordan have been appointed to the post of Foreign Affairs and Finance Ministry.
The two men met the recently sworn-in Head of State at Office of the President earlier Monday, May 18 and accepted the posts.
Granger told reporters that he would be meeting with his Prime Minister, Moses Nagamootoo Monday evening to finalise the Cabinet in the situation where the A Partnership for National Unity and the Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) Coalition has a seat allocation of 60/40 in keeping with the pre-election Cummingsburg Accord pact between the two political parties that guarantees a 60/40 allocation.

In the meantime, President Granger told that media that his team would be working to review many of the “ill-conceived” projects that would have been undertaken by the old Administration.
Granger pointed to some projects which he said was killed by the PPP-government, but noted that there are some that will see significant changes before it continues. These projects to receive scrutiny will by the Specialty Hospital, the Amelia Falls road, the Fiber Optic cable among others.

Even TK does not buy that...

Solutions are not that simple, yes TK knows that.  There must be a basket of well thought through measures and the results will take time.  Quick fixes are never sustainable.

 

Getting all kids in school and implementing a skills-based education alternative program for kids not pursuing high academics must be a priority.  Everyone's lives will be made easier and the nation better off.

If the Granger Government can deliver one promise it will make a world of a difference for the Guyanese people

 

 

- free meals for all Nursery and Primary school children and free transportation for them to and from school.

 

School will become their new home and this will create a thousand of jobs for school bus drivers and cafeteria officials.

 

But what it means even if a mother has ZERO dollar in her pocket, her child will be going to school, even if he does not have a proper shoes, he will get to school and will eat and will read and will matriculate and will one day have a better life than his mother.

 

This is going to cost a lot of money - over 3-4 billion, but Priya spent $35 billion in 2014 on Education - do what exactly - I Don’t know since there is little evidence of any proper results from the education sector.
