Building A Latino-Muslim Coalition With #TacoTrucksAtEveryMosque.

Replies sorted oldest to newest

Iman had something like a taco for Valentines day...chief might have had the same..does that count?

There is mention of pork tacos...I'm sure it wasn't for the Muslims unless they never knew what was on the plate.

Good to see the Christian Mexicans catering to Muslims!

"But it wasn't until Orange County, Calif., residents Rida Hamida and Ben Vazquez created #TacoTrucksAtEveryMosque that someone tried to explore the political potential between Muslims and Mexicans in the United States with their shared foodways. The two put on events that are exactly what the hashtag promises. A lonchera parks at a mosque and serves free tacos after a religious service that includes a talk urging Latino-Muslim unity. Visitors feast on tacos of carne asada and chicken prepared by a halal-certified butcher."

It's more than catering,it's an idea for Latino-Muslim unity.

Wondering what methods can be used to unify Guyanese.

I still do not get this part;
Pork?

"Al pastor tacos are just a pork version of the shawarma spits that Lebanese immigrants brought with them to Mexico City in the 1930s."

"The connection between Middle Eastern and Mexican food goes all the way back to the Moors, and is well-known in culinary circles. Al pastor tacos are just a pork version of the shawarma spits that Lebanese immigrants brought with them to Mexico City in the 1930s "

Cain,

the trucks don't serve Pork.The Al pastor tacos [Mexican] are a version of Shawarma [Middle Eastern Dish].

The writer is showing the connection of Mexicans and Middle Eastern through similarities of food.

We need a taco truck near Al Abidin Mosque @ 127th Steet & Liberty Ave. Food is like music to your belly. People in RH love a variety of food from the everyday curry thingy. I for one love Mexican tacos and burritos like Trump.

Ya think free katahar curry outside every temple could lead to Afro-Indo unity in Guyana? The Muslims giving away free beef at mosques on Eid day for donkey years but that ain't working. 😁

No. Free suits and ties, Clarkes shoes, gold rings, fancy wigs and hats might do the trick.
