ANEEK DHAR:WINNER 2007 SAREGAMAPA

'I thought Raja would be the winner'

What was going through your mind when they were about to announce the winner's name?

Before the winner was announced, I honestly thought Raja would be the winner as he is a good singer and performer.

What is going through your mind right now?

Six months back too I was in a similar position, when I was declared winner of the Zee Bangla SaReGaMaPa contest.

'I just want to sleep and sleep'

What is tomorrow's morning going to be like for Aneek Dhar?

I just want to sleep and sleep. On the 15th we all are going to perform in Surat for Navratri with Ismail Darbarji. I am going to sing all the hit songs that I sang on the show. My apologies to the audiences of Surat that I cannot dance. I am going to Kolkata after garba for Durga Puja. We are going on world tour next month.

What do you want to say the aspiring kids?

Do riyaz -- practice -- and have faith in god.

'I want to be an established playback singer like Sonu Nigam'

Have you thought about your future plans?

I want to wait till I am 20 and my voice gets fully developed. I want to be an established playback singer like Sonu Nigam. I want to last in the industry for at least 25 years.

Did you think you would win?

I was confident. I strongly believe in god. Whatever I am today is because of his blessings. When I entered this contest I just prayed to god that I get one good chance. The audience was my god in this contest. I give credit to the audience, my parents, Himeshji and friends.

'The audience was my god'

Aneek Dhar was not one of the participants when the SaReGaMaPa Challenge began earlier this year. The winner of Bengali SaReGaMaPa entered this year's contest during a 'Brahamastra' round along with Abhijeet, the winner of the Marathi SaReGaMaPa contest.
The 18-year-old Aneek spoke to Rajul Hegde shortly after he was crowned the winner of SaReGaMaPa Challenge.

How does it feel to be a winner?

I am so happy I don't have words! I am still blank; cannot believe I have won. Winning the award is no joke. This has happened only because of audience support and my hard work. I want the audience to support me in the future too.
