Only a matter of time before those shacks are torn down and replaced by condos, they need to stay put so they can be given first preference to buy when the developers move in.

one way to look at it:

housing is probably very expensive and moving to a suitable neighbourhood will cost them significantly, they may not be able to afford all the amenities they have at this moment.

its best to stay put and enjoy all the finer things in life and make the move when they save enough money.

i'm not living in a middle class neighbourhood, should i save until i can afford a 15 mil home on a 8 mil land or build a 7 mil home on a 1 mil land and have most of the comforts i need in my home?
