“Show me your company and I’ll tell you who you are”- Robert Persaud

THE major political parties continue to pull public endorsement from opposing sides and civil society as elections day draws closer; one such recent move was made by activist Mark Benschop endorsing the Alliance for Change (AFC). People’s Progressive Party/ Civic (PPP/C) and PPP/C campaign spokesman, Agriculture Minister, Robert Persaud, contends that moves such as these have little impact on the incumbent party’s campaign.
At a press conference last Thursday at Freedom House, he observed that what it does is increase the political baggage of the AFC.

POLITICAL LIABILITIES
“Benschop like Nagamootoo will not make any impact…the people of Guyana must know that the AFC is just another version of the PNC….show me your company and I’ll tell you who you are and that is everyday what we are seeing,” Persaud said.
According to him, the association is clear looking at the AFC’s membership.
“We see what the AFC is about. We see who and who make up the AFC… The AFC creates and impression that it is a new party…a party that has no political baggage, but in fact is becoming a party of political liabilities,” he said.
Persaud noted that the AFC is becoming a party of discredited individuals, with very unholy alliances and background.
He contends that the party’s manifesto remains a key catalyst in influencing former critics’ decision to endorse the PPP/C, noting that the choice for the people is clear, a point that was proved by the support from the hinterland communities.
“The Opposition was totally shocked at the Lethem response. They couldn’t say that we brought people by bus there. They couldn’t say that we brought people by trucks there…
Persaud added that the opposition’s response to the turnout at Lethem is revealing a point raised by the PPP/C that was disputed – that is the alliance between A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and the AFC.

This is straight up a PPPite propagandist narrative. The Pncite in their midst from Misir to Mani to Lumumba, Hill are not bad people; they are I presume rehabilitated people. And how are they rehabilitated? Of course! they came into the fold of the divinely chosen party. What god sanction let no man defame!Only the debased, the fallen or expelled leave the sanctuary of god. Naga, Ramjattan etc are the cast out of heaven!

Well no goc would create that corrupt crew. They are about conserving for power and that means capturing the state and political office where they can continue as they have in their autocratic manner. They are far removed form a sanctified existence. Actually, the quicker they are gone the better the Guyanese people will be.

Ex-Finance Minister Asgar Ally backs Ramotar
By STABROEK EDITOR

Former Finance Minister Asgar Ally, who had an acrimonious falling out with the PPP/C, came out in support today for PPP/C presidential candidate Donald Ramotar.

Ally spoke at the party’s Stewartville rally today and also lauded President Bharrat Jagdeo who succeeded him as Minister of Finance.

[b] As Finance Minister, Asgar Ally bought a property in Forshaw Street Queenstown from GUYSUCO for $1.00 in his personal name then had it extensively renovated with Govt funds. This along with other shady deals involving the Beharry Group of Companies and Sale of Bank shares prompted Dr. Jagan to give him his marching orders. I dare Mr. Persaud or anyone within the PPP to refute these facts. Now that Mr Ally has endorsed Mr Ramotar, can we draw the same conclusion ?
