I think some of these 'influential' people should get harsher sentences if for no other reason than to make an example of them.

Imagine her lawyer tried to get her out of any jail time by saying that she is remorseful. 

 She did wrong. She should be punished. Let her be fined sufficient to compensate for the position her kid took. Prison is not for punishment. It is for rehabilitation. The use of jails this way in the US and elsewhere does not help society. I would not mind her paying a hefty fine. Gail does the society little good.

No doubt jail is essentially for rehabilitation but I wouldn't mind a deviation here as these folks can easily pay the fine. The man in Miami paid $2.1M to get his kid in school. How terrible is that kid? But I would go for extended community service in lieu of prison.

She should not have gotten any jail time. If Papa Doc can make his son Baby Doc President and he got no jail time then why should she get time in jail. At University the kid still has to compete with the likes of Prashad. A man who is so hungry to do good in University that he only puts down his text books to sleep.

Mehthinks Aunt Becky is going to be someone's bitch for a much longer time. Her charges include money laundering and tax evasions.

I work with someone who used to work in the prison system in Florida. She was at the facility where Aileen Wuornos was held. She says that the prison system is really fvcked up and she really doesn't like it. She said that it was difficult going home after being in that stench all day. And she was working in the office, not even in the area where the prisoners were. That said, I still feel these people should be placed in a position where they can pay more than what their money can buy.

When found guilty these scamps should be made to pay a fine quadruple what they paid for the scam.

There is nothing that motivates a man more in North American universities than being a former dunce in Guyana. Take it from Prashad a former Guyana dunce and all the former Guyana dunces who excelled at universities in North America.
