It's not a family history question, but it is an interesting sidenote in Guyanese history, so I thought I'd ask it in this section. My name is Nick McGinley - I'm an Irish writer. My friend Glenn from Suriname told me his story of knowing Romeo Bacchus aka the con artist, Dr. Crime in 1973 when Bacchus wanted help to get to the Netherlands where he stayed for 9 months and then used Glenn's identity to con people in Canada. I think the exploits of Dr. Crime could make for an interesting book. He ran successful long and short cons in the Netherlands, in Trinidad, Barbados, Brazil and was deported from England and twice from Canada. He was active from the late 1960s onwards and is believed to have died in 2008. I wonder do any members here know anyone who had firsthand encounters with Bacchus, who'd like to tell me their story?
