The Rose Hall Town Metro Female Cricket Team is inviting role model young girls and their mothers to enter the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, MS first ever Mother/Daughter Pageant. The event would be organised under the Club’s highly successful Say NO/Say YES campaign which seeks to advise youths to Say NO to Drugs, Crime, Alcohol, Violence, Suicide and Yes to Life, Education, Sports and Religion. The event would be held on the 19th of August at either the Area ‘H’ Ground or the compound of the J.C. Chandisingh Secondary School. Funds raised would be used to purchase cricket gears for the female team, provide school bags for less fortunate students and educational scholarships to children from single parent households.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster stated the event would be divided into two categories – Junior and Seniors. The Junior segment would cater for mothers between the age of 22 to 25 years, while their daughters shall have to be between six years to 12 years old. The Senior Segment would involve mothers between the ages of 36 to 50 years range, with daughters 13 to 17 years old, again using the 1st of September Cut-off date.
The contest would involve an evening gown and casual wear segment, while contestants would also be involved in introducing themselves in an on stage interview based on their personal platform and a talent piece. All contestants would have to be drug-free, have a religious background and have no criminal background. All daughters shall have to be attending school, have an 85% attendance rate, be childless and must submit a recommendation from their school. Mothers would have to submit a recommendation from either their place of employment or a religious leader.
The top three winners of each category would win attractive prizes, be featured in the Club’s Annual Magazine, become the official face of the Club’s Say NO/Say Yes Programme and host one month segment of the RHTY&SC Television programme. Interested persons can contact Club Office on @337-4562, email foster_hilbert@yahoo.com or visit the Club during 8AM to 6PM from Monday to Saturday.
Deadline for entry is the 23rd of June. Successful applicants would be informed by the Metro Female Cricket Team by the 30th of June.
