Government is not accountable to NGOs and Charitable Organizations.  I am sure you will find individuals who provide unnecessary road blocks as people in Guyana have a very laid back attitude in these kind of ventures.

But NGOs and charitable organizations are accountable to the government, especially if they are registered.  

How does an NGO interact in a country's education and medical systems, when representatives of the government are looking out for their 'piece' and vindictive when they don't get it ?

Its not only laid-back laziness, its also greed with destructive results.

Skelly, this program continue. There is too much at stake to just drop it. If you have children, you might know the feelings for vulnerable youth in Guyana.

As I said to Bibi, it might not have been the past government, but it was the actions of their representative, who degraded our efforts, by their greed.  

Unfortunately, it was  a consequence for the political party, because parents of the youth did not like what happened and many are still angry.

The region seems to doing better, they get a lot of overseas [Rotary and Lions] support, but it might take a while to regain the trust of some parents.

Governments need to understand, when an NGO is assisting needy families, they should refrain from  discourage that effort, if they rely on people's vote to win an election.

We cannot prevent individuals from expressing their opinions.

A new trend has started where those who are opposed to the PNC administration are considered racists. That is unacceptable.

Another trend has started where those who speak out against the racism being openly displayed against Indos by Harmon are labelled racists.

It depends on which set of lens you are wearing.

Racism exists all over the world, including the USA. It is only through education, communication, interaction, removal of misconceptions and mistrust will racism end.

The younger generation WILL end racism, we must be patient since Racism was institutionalized starting with the Dictator Burnham. Guyana was like South Africa under his dictatorship era. 

I am hopeful that I will live to see that day when racism ends. A new political force different from the current ones will emerge and build bridges, patience is the key.

Playing the blame game does not help the cause in eradicating racism in Guyana.

Despite being a firm PPP supporter, no one can deny that some PPP officials became arrogant and proud. Puffed up.

The defeat humbled them and that is not a bad thing.

BUT we must NOT allow a dictatorship to emerge. We walked along that road once and we all know of the consequences.

Freedom of expression and association is vital to any democracy and the people's representative in Parliament must not be muzzled.  Those who are opposed to an administration must not be intimidated either.

I see a very dangerous trend with this administration which is less than a year old.

You are to be commended for being a firm PPP supporter, as many of us were at one time. But people like Gil, Churchill, Tola and many others might have been there, possible, long before your were born. We learned, from trying to change the world single-handed.

Based on what we see in Guyana, if the PPP is reformed with honesty and respect for the ordinary person, they can remain in government for a long time.

But change CLOSE to a Cheddi Jagan  style party has to be restored. The people are partially confused, but most remain loyal to the PPP.

Apparently you missed the point that the elections were lost by a slim margin. All the PPP need to do is gain 2,500 votes and its a tie.

Agreed Yuji.  But I think the ABC countries will allow Guyana to slide into a full fledge dictatorship.  They did with Burnham and many countries around the world.  That is my fear right there!!

After the coalition government was sworn in, Education Minister Roopnarine discovered documents in his office that showed the PPP had intended to stop the $10,000 vouchers after the elections. Also, similar documents were discovered at the Presidential office. GT Mosquito had published a photocopy of one of those docs.
