Regal Masters beat Fishermen XI by 7-wkts to take Champion of Champions softball title

Regal Masters started off the year in fine fashion when they defeated Fishermen XI by seven wickets to win the final of the Champion of Champions softball competition which was contested on Sunday at Everest Cricket Club.
Batting first, Fishermen XI managed 83-4 off their allotted 10 overs with Ramo Malone top scoring with 28 which included two fours and two sixes. Troy Ramsaywack made 18 and Unnis Yusuf 13. Ricky Persaud claimed 2-15. Regal Masters responded with 84-3 in six overs. Mahase Chunilall hit two fours and three sixes in a brisk 32, Eon Abel made 17, while Eric Thomas and Troy Kippins were both unbeaten on 13 when victory was achieved. Malone had 2-5.
Earlier, Regal Masters thumped HS Masters by 113 runs. Regal Masters took first strike and posted 122-6 in 10 overs. Eric Thomas stroked 34 and Raymond Harper 22. Oslyn Batson had 2-22. HS Masters were skittled for nine in seven overs in response. Ricky Persaud bagged 5-4 and Tony Singh 2-0.
Regal Masters overcame Ariel Masters by 40 runs. Regal Masters batted first and scored 122-4 in 10 overs. David Harper struck 40; David Harper made 38 and Mahase Chunilall 21. Ariel Masters were limited to 82-5 in reply. Kenneth Dindyal got 35; Tony Singh captured 4-8 and Ricky Persaud 3-18.
HS Masters beat Fishermen XI by 26 runs. HS Masters took first turn in the middle and got to 166-5. Suresh Ramdeen slammed 103. Fishermen XI were dismissed for 140 in reply.
Ricky Persaud was named man-of-the-match in the final and most valuable player of the tournament. The competition was organised by Samuel Kingston. (Zaheer Mohamed)
