Ministry of the Presidency's photo.

President David A. Granger, shortly after his return from Washington DC today, attended the Shaheed’s Boys and Girls Orphanages' Eid Fest which marks the ending... of the holy month of Ramadan, and announced that Government will increase the annual subvention to the facilities.

Jagdeo & Ramotar removed all Govt Subvention

and give it to CIOG

Why did the PPP do this to the Muslim Orphans?

The President is pictured here with the residents and staff of the orphanage in Kitty, along with Minister of Social Cohesion Amna Ally who is standing at left.

Is this a Muslim only orphanage or do they habitually convert kids to the religion on entering? We should not be supporting religious only entities be they Muslim, catholic or protestant or hindu or animist. Granger need to be focusing on our secular concerns and let the religious people take care of their own. Those kids above do not resemble any I grew up with. They look like they fell off a plane from wazirstan.

Stormie that was a picture of the Eid Fest.

It is normal for everyone

to dress for the occasion

including the President and the Minister.

Stormie all those kids are going to Private School now

and are competing and excelling against the other kids.

Granger commended them

as good examples of Guyanese youths

with the level of training and discipline

they are receiving today.

Recently they got a Duty Free Bus

to transport these kids back and forth.

For those who do not know the annual Subvention

being talked about was in existence under the British

and continued after Independence.

But some spiteful fellas in the PPP

removed the subvention after they found out

the Muslims who run the Orphanage

was not playing their Political games ....

President Granger has Promised to Correct this wrong.

Stormie Guyana has many Orphans

There is the Hindu Orphanage,

Christian Orphanage.

Amerindian Orphanage,

and Others....

All are Run by their Administrative Boards...

And together they are helping

address the ills in society....

and creating a Decent Home for Kids

who might otherwise end up as streets Kids,

addicts, drug dealers, prostitutes, pimps,

 etc., etc., etc.,

I do not mind orphanages. I mind orphanages run by religious entities. I worry that these may become exclusion zones where the children or where the unfortunate of the society of non denominational religious entities are neglected or if handed off to these institutions are converted and indoctrinated into the religion of the head of the orphanage.

I like your explanation that they are dressed in a celebratory way. Humor me and post another from Easter where they were in their bunny suits and on an Easter egg hunt. Do we have them building nativity scenes at Christmas? Well, I know the answer so I am not expecting anything. Forgive my skepticism if by remote chance I am wrong. I just do not trust formal religion ever to be pluralistic. Hinduism may be the exception but even here I doubt it.

Where did that article say that all subvention was removed?  Granger said that he will merely increase it and that indicates that it is not enough.

Granger is trying to gain brownie point with Muslims..

No....I just want orphanages that are race, religion neutral. If religious people want to rescue their own ( a terrible attitude to begin with) they should not request state funds. I have the same sentiment about schools or even recreational entities as cricket or soccer. I do not want to see christian soccer teams or Hindus cricket team. That is an anathema in a plural society.

You normally post a lot of shyte, but on this baseman agrees with you.  Unlike the bushman, these look like my muslim friends on Eid back in the day.  The GoG and HE Granger is correct in not discriminating against any organization offering kids stability, guidance and a sense belonging.  As long as these organizations operate within the laws of the land, they deserve equal support from the Govt.

ACIC/SADR arranging a similar program at the Mosque in New York.

Moses coming too....he wants to know where and when the Cheddi Jagan Medical Center went wrong and why they refuse to provide medical services for the community.

A meeting already set up with the Mayor,

and the Queens Borough President Office has stepped forward to avoid a repeat of the embarrassing "Mala Show" that was arranged by some funny fellas who are now trying to distance themselves from the scheme that cost the people of Guyana millions.

Vishnu was the Queens Borough President office part of the Mulit Million Dollar Deal to Hang Mala on Elizabeth Harper at the Ashram?
