Ralph Ramkarran is no traitorPDFPrintE-mail

Khemraj Ramjattan is trying his utmost to corrupt PPP supporters into thinking the way he and Moses Nagamootoo do, that joining with the PNC could get the collective into government. The problem is that all of the so-called leaders of the opposition are presidential hopefuls who each aspire to a ‘high place in any governmental construct; so it would be interesting to see the fallout if the joint opposition ever ascends to the highest office in the land.  The resultant cat-fight would beat any international fighting bout.
The ultimate opportunist has been trying to inveigle the older freedom-fighters of the PPP to join them in their notorious forays in destabilizing the PPP/C administration, which would lend them credibility.
So he has been gleeful, while shedding crocodile tears, at former Speaker of the House, veteran politician Ralph Ramkarran’s decision to resign from the party he has, as have his parents before him, spent a lifetime serving; admittedly as a result of a misunderstanding between himself and another party executive member.
However, while the party was happy to be rid of Ramjattan and Nagamootoo, Ralph Ramkarran is another matter. He s one of the old stalwarts who is intrinsically linked to the values of the founders of the party, Dr. and Mrs. Jagan, and there is every likelihood that he would reconsider leaving the party to which he had dedicated a lifetime of service over a minor issue.  He is certainly too valued within party ranks and it is without doubt that the party would prevail upon him to change his decision.
This has been made clear in a press release issued by that party, which states: “The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) received the letter of resignation, from the party, from Mr. Ralph Ramkarran on June 30th, 2012.
As was stated in Cde Ramkarran’s press statement, the trigger for this was a very heated discussion at the Executive Committee Meeting held on June 29th, 2012.
Fiery debates are not unusual in the Party, unfortunately this one led to a resignation. In fact, the Party's leadership encourages open and frank deliberation on all issues with members given the opportunity to fully participate.
The Party’s EXCO still hopes that Cde Ramkarran will reconsider his action as there is no fundamental disagreement on any policy issue. It was a case where Cde. Ramkarran felt insulted by the remarks of another member and left the meeting before it concluded. The offending remark was withdrawn by the member and an apology was also offered.
The Party wishes to state that Cde Ramkarran is a long-standing and highly-respected member. He has made very valuable contributions to the Party and the country as a whole.
We intend to engage Cde Ramkarran in further discussions with a view of reconciling the matter. This is an approach we have always taken in such situations.”
Ralph Ramkarran has always been dutiful to his party and his country.  Both are today sorely in need of his services, maybe as never before, and the party is hoping that he changes his mind.
But even if he does not change his mind about resigning his political membership, there is scant likelihood that Ramjattan’s wishes would be fulfilled, because Ralph Ramkarran is astute enough to recognise that he has nothing to gain, but will certainly lose his good name and tarnish his pristine image if he ever joins the ranks of the ilk of Ramjattan and Nagamootoo.
He has a rare wisdom that he has demonstrated for years while he served as Speaker, and the kind of integrity that the likes of Ramjattan and Nagamootoo can never aspire to. He is fully aware that joining the AFC would be empowering the PNC, and that would threaten the bastion of democracy that his parents and himself had fought for all of their lives.  Ralph Ramkarran is no turncoat and, let alone his country, Ralph Ramkarran would never betray the sacred memory of his parents.

If  the  fear  of  losing  his  'good  name and tarnish his pristine image' would  silence  MR.  Ramkarran from  speaking  his  mind  freely and  /or  forming   association with  anyone  or  any  party,  then  he  would  have  earned   and deserve  the derision  of  the  Wolf  Pack that  hound  him  out  of  his  home of  40  years.

He will be a traitor tomorrow. I am sure of that as I am sure as there are suns in the universe.

If he does not come back the hounds of dirt currently pulling on their chains will be let loose against him by  Misir and Kwame. Soon we will "know" that he painted  his toe nails and have a preference for sheep over his wife.

It is only a matter of time until you muckrakers come after  him. As the scorpion said to the frog who was giving him a lift across the river on sting him, ( and so  ensuring that they both die) "That is what I do!"

Ramjattan is engaging in political prostitutionPDFPrintE-mail

– political analyst
A RENOWNED political analyst has said AFC Leader Khemraj Ramjattan is engaging in “political prostitution,” gauging from his recent comment on the resignation of People’s Progressive Party (PPP) stalwart, Mr. Ralph Ramkarran.

Khemraj Ramjattan

Mr. Ramkarran resigned from the leadership of the PPP following a disagreement at the start of the last weekend.
The political analyst insists that the AFC leader’s description of Mr. Ramkarran’s departure from the PPP as a ‘dark day for Guyana’ is quite alarming, more so too is his categorisation of Ramkarran as ‘such a distinguished gentleman’.
“…..To now claim this man (Ramkarran), a Senior Counsel, is so valuable to Guyana when you snubbed him and hurled all sorts of criticisms only recently, speaks about the height of Ramjattan’s hypocrisy. What you see here is ‘prostitutive behaviour’ by the AFC, flirting in a manner consistent with naked opportunism,” the analyst concluded.

Mr. Ralph Ramkarran

He said that Ramjattan himself had the opportunity to demonstrate his trust in Ramkarran’s value and distinguished leadership but squandered that opportunity when he rejected the very Ramkarran for Speaker of the 10th Parliament.
There is an obvious contradiction and it goes against the credibility of the AFC leader. He knew then that Ramkarran had years of experience, was a distinguished leader, and had all the qualities that a Speaker should possess, yet still he flirted with APNU to get Raphael Trotman into the Speakership, the political analyst said.
A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) joined with the Alliance For Change (AFC) to reject the PPP/C nominee Ramkarran to be elected Speaker of the 10th Parliament earlier this year.
The PPP had insisted that the agreement reached between the parties goes against the convention in parliamentary democracies where the governing party with the largest number of votes and seats is elected Speaker of the National Assembly.
“I believe Ramkarran is such a party loyalist, that even if anger led him to depart in such a manner, he will not switch-it-up to any other party, …….so Ramjattan may be flirting the wrong side,” he further suggested.
The analyst identified the AFC leader with an inconsistent behaviour pattern of flip-flopping on several issues which raises serious questions about his credibility and also exposes his penchant for political grandstanding

Let the PPP point us to the democracies where the "rule" ( the legal basis) for appointing speaker is a preoperative of the administration.  We have a vote because it is actually the rule that the individual be elected. Convention and traditions mean little in our dysfunctional race based democracy where the presidency is seen as a racial prize and capturing the state means racial triumphalism ( not to mention a leech source for the autocracy so formed!)

Everything that speaks to the racism and crookedness of the PPP will be nonsense to you.  What the hell is the Deputy speakers authority? Has there been anything tabled by the opposition ever reaching the light of day?

Cut the crap and accept that the autocracy is over and every day that goes by the young people who are the majority of the voting public will no longer be afraid of the evil PNC as framed by the PPP as a reason to dominate power.

The People knows they are crooked since the see the quick rise of these once one-foot-in-the-logie-destitute and  gluttonous thieves into filthy rich. We want checks and balance into our system to stop the craven conversion of our assets into private PPP fiefdoms.

Nothing is to be given and all is to be accounted for.   There is no law saying they should get the Speaker position and able to veto the parliamentary majority voted in by the people.

He left, displeased for being chided for telling a truth. That is how the story goes and how it was received. It can no longer be internal if he left and if the internal operations of the party is such that you can scold your senior politicians into submission then it is rotten at its core as we suspected. After all it is that rot that give us the jagdeo and Ramotar; a vindictive micro manager and a relic from an era long dead.
