Superstar Rajinikanth who is well loved and one of the most popular film celebrities in India is celebrating his 67th birthday today. The actor was born on December 12, 1950, in Bangalore and was named Shivaji Rao Gaekwad. However, he later changed his name to Rajinikanth when he made his screen debut. The actor along with Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan is the most well-known actor from India. Rajinikanth, although is named as world’s richest actor does not do any TV commercials or talk shows. He does not even do extensive promotions for his film but still enjoys a popularity that borders on being crazy. 1.Andha Kanoon (1983)

Andha Kanoon was the Bollywood debut of Rajinikanth. He starred along with Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini. The film was directed by T.Rama Rao and was a remake of the Tamil film Sattam Oru Iruttarai. The film also had many stars cast in supporting roles such as Pran, Danny Denzongpa, Amrish Puri, Madan Puri, Prem Chopra and Asrani. Dharmendra made a guest appearance in the film.

3.Meri Adaalat (1984)

Meri Adaalat is a revenge drama that features Rajinikanth in the lead role. The film also stars Zeenat Aman, Mohnish Behl, Sonia Sahni and Komal Mahuakar. The movie was dubbed in Tamil as Veetukku Oru Nallavan and also remade in Kannada as Garuda Dhwaja starring Ambareesh. The movie was directed by AT Raghu and was similar to his Kannada movie Aasha.

6.Bhagwaan Dada (1986)

Bhagwaan Dada is a very popular film which has achieved a cult status today. It features Rajinikanth as a criminal who becomes morally redeemed through his love for a child. The film also starred Rakesh Roshan, Sridevi and Danny Denzogpa. The film is also noteworthy as it marks the onscreen debut of Hrithik Roshan as a child artist.

8.Chaalbaaz (1989)

Chaalbaaz was a remake of 1973 Hema Malini starrer Seeta Aur Geeta featuring Sridevi in the double role. The movie is regarded as an all-time classic because of its comedy quotient and awesome acting by Sridevi, Rajinikanth and Sunny Deol. The film is still revered today for the class act that all the actors and supporting actors did in the movie. The film also starred Anupam Kher, Shakti Kapoor, Rohini Hattangadi and Anu Kapoor in pivotal roles.

9.Hum (1991)

Hum is a very popular and well-known Hindi movie which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Govinda, Kimi Katkar, Deepa Sahi, Shilpa Shirodkar, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher and Kader Khan. It was the most successful film of Amitabh Bachchan in the 90s before he announced his temporary retirement. The film is well known for its musical score as well and earned Amitabh Bachchan the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 1992.

Phool Bane Angarey was a female-dominated movie with Rekha in the lead role but Rajinikanth made a great impact in his role of Inspector Ranjit Singh. However, Rajinikanth dies in this movie which instigates Rekha to take revenge of his death from his murderers.

Rajinikanth is one of those rare star actors who have graced the Tamil as well as Hindi film industry with his craft and dedication. Rajinikanth, has achieved great heights of stardom and come a long way from his initial bus conductor days.
