President David Granger this morning departed Guyana for Cuba to undergo a scheduled follow-up medical evaluation by his doctors at Centro de Investigaciones Medico Quirurgicas (Center for Surgical Medical Research) CIMEQ.

A statement from the Ministry of the Presidency noted that the Head of State, who is accompanied by First Lady,  Sandra Granger, received positive feedback last October from the Cuban Medical Specialists about his recovery from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

In October last year, Granger completed a scheduled medical evaluation at CIMEQ and his medical specialists said that he is in remission from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, a release from the Guyana mission in Havana had said then.

The release had said then that he was due for another scheduled routine medical check in January 2020.

The President had been diagnosed with the cancer at CIMEQ in October of 2018 and underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatment thereafter.

Cuba might as well end up keeping Granger there because he endorsed Burnham, Socialism. He even put flowers on the rotting Burnham grave and boasted that Burnham is his hero.

He can't even walk one Kilometre and the the PNC has this lazy ass and hapless/sick fossil running as President. This chap raped the constitution and ignored CCJ. He is very bad for Guyana.

Hope Cuba keeps him there for the better good of Guyana. He will also send the PNC into exile after this PPP tidal wave which will smash the PNC donkey cart and their sick jackass fossil President.

Supposed Granger dies before the election date, what happens. Does it mean that a new date has to be set.?

Has this ever happen anywhere in the world.?

I guess there will be a new date.

Not necessarily.

In the unfortunate death of a presidential candidate, the next in line will lead that party in the elections.

In the specific situation with Granger, PNCR will decide on the successor.

My thoughts are how close to the election date , should there be an unfortunate death of the President  Granger [Presidential Candidate for the coming elections] hence my assumption of new date.

The closeness of an election should/would not affect the election date.

Political parties do have elected officials in seniority ranking order and an immediate decision will be made if the unfortunate situation happens.

Not really fair, the people have not really been able to see the next of line in action. I would think a new date has to be set, after new ballots have to be printed.

The people do know the hierarchy of a political organization.

While indeed there will be preferences of the selection of individuals in the group, the process must proceed.

Later indeed, the political party can proceed to seek another person to serve in that position.
