MURREE, Oct 16 (APP): PPP leader and former Federal Law Minister Senator Dr Babar Awan on Sunday said that PPP would complete its five-year constitutional term and it would emerge victorious in next general election in 2013 and form government again. Addressing a public meeting at Dhanda near New Muree, he strongly criticized the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Punjab government saying that its leadership was upset due to looming defeat in Senate and general elections and was talking about the dissolution of Provincial Assembly. Babar Awan said that the princes of ‘Takht-i-Lahore’ would again leave for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, after their defeat in 2013 election. He said that PML-N had cheated the parties of APDM (All Parties Democratic Movement) by contesting election in 2008. The PML-N leadership backed away from its words and left Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf, Jamaat-i-Islami and Mahmood Achakzai in the lurch.

He said,”Sharifs’ plan of dissolving Punjab Assembly in a bid to break the electoral college of Senate has miserably failed. The people will not elect them in the next general election because of their animosity towards democracy”.

He said the Sharif brothers’ plan to dissolve provincial assembly was an indication of foreseeing defeat in the Senate election. Babar Awan said the leaders of “Naraz League” , which held a sit-in against the democratic government, themsleves under a deal with Musharraf went to Jeddah and remained silent during his (Musharraf’s) regime.

He asked that why the so-called lovers of democracy had not staged a single sit-in during the nine-year tenure of Musharraf. He added that the Senate election would be held in March next year and no assembly would be dissolved before them.

He said it was a mere propaganda by the loyalists of PML-N leaders to hoodwink people but they would not succeed in their designs.

Babar Awan said that the rulers of Takhat-i-Lahore had created a number of problems in Punjab province. Huge funds were being embezzled by them in the name of ‘Sasti Roti’, development, Ashiana Housing Scheme and anti-dengue spray. The whole drama was being staged to loot public money and government financial resources, he added.

He said that the PML-N leaders were busy in keeping their vote bank intact instead of redressing the miseries of people.

Dr Babar Awan said that no unconstitutional move would succeed in the country. Only the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would resolve the problems of Punjab as PML-N had failed to redress the grievances of its , he added.
He said the PPP government had inherited problems but it tried its best to address them on priority basis. On other hand, PML-N instead of helping the federal government in overcoming prevalent crises, aggravated the situation.

Earlier, Political Secretary to President Fauzia Habib, former Member of National Assembly Ghulam Murtaza Satti and other PPP leaders also addressed the meeting. Advisor to the Prime Minister Advocate Farooq Awan was also present.
