LAHORE

The cold war between the leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party Punjab and PPP Lahore was exposed on Friday after the Lahore party office bearers ran out of patience and came hard on the party’s provincial leadership, the former claimed, could threaten the party performance and preparations for the upcoming local bodies polls.

After facing harsh criticism in the meetings of PPP Punjab office bearers for a long time, PPP Lahore leaders on Friday decided that they could no more take the rubbish and were up for a tit-for-tat response against the PPP Punjab leadership.

In a meeting held under the chairmanship of Pakistan Peoples Party Lahore president Samina Khalid Ghurki, the district office bearers came hard on PPP Punjab president Mian Mansoor Wattoo, accusing him of deliberately allowing the criticism on Pakistan Peoples Party Lahore organization in order to the put the entire blame for the failure of provincial body on the Lahore body, sources said.

The sources said the angry leaders warned Punjab President Mian Manzoor Wattoo that it was time he admitted his own failures and mistakes and stopped passing on the blame to the Lahore organization.

In future, it was decided in the meeting, the Pakistan Peoples Party Lahore President Samina Khalid Ghurki would not participate in the PPP Punjab meetings alone. And in case she has to, she would be accompanied by other office bearers of Lahore.

According to sources, the furious leaders condemned PPP leader Diwan Ghulam Mohiuddin and said he had nothing to do with the PPP. They alleged that Diwan Ghulam Mohiuddin had joined PPP along with Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry who joined hands with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and conspired to dissolve the PPP-led government of Azad Kashmir. The Pakistan Peoples Party leadership took strong notice of that and expelled him from the party, they maintained.

The sources said all relatives of Ghulam Mohiuddin were holding offices in Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) and it was the reason he had failed to nominate any candidate for local bodies (LB) polls and for party offices from his area, Misri Shah.

Similarly, they added, the PPP Punjab office bearers, Afnan Butt and Abid Siddiqi, had also warned their relatives and friends against contesting local bodies elections from Pakistan Peoples Party platform.

The sources added that the angry leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party Lahore alleged that Umar Sharif Bukhari had no standing and worth in his own union council and had never succeeded in getting elected even as a councilor.
