...watching today's swearing-in of PPP/C Ministers on his TV at home. His daughter Pauline Chase posted this touching scene on Facebook.

Ashton Chase and HJM Hubbard, along with Cheddi and Janet Jagan founded the PPP on January 1st 1950. One can imagine what was going through Comrade Chase's mind as he sat there in front his TV. Though not an active politician for many decades he remains a PPP supporter steadfastly.

The tenacity of the impoverished men and women workers for the party, illiterate as they were back in 1950 believed in the idea of a progressive Guiana. They were never remembered by the PPP founders and also forgotten by the inheritors. The few who were killed are remembered as martyrs, suits the purpose of divisional politics.

Where would the Peoples Progressive Party be today without the true fighters, the poor souls gone into paradise and forgotten. Back in 1950, when asked to show the fighting sign, one quickly raises their right hand in the air with its three fingers upright demonstrating the PPP. There were no clinched fists back then, blacks and indians were one force.
