The General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), Mr Bernard Mornah, has called on voters to look beyond the National Democratic Congress  (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if the nation will reach the ‘Promised Land' sooner rather than later.

"The economy is challenged under the NDC, the energy crisis is suffocating and the health system is collapsing," he said.

"But the NPP is also killing its members, and the party is engulfed by internal squabbles. The nation cannot entrust its destiny into the hands of the NPP," he said, indicating also that the PNC was the obvious alternative.

Mr Mornah, who is seeking to succeed Mr Rahmadan as the party's national chairman at their national congress later this year, made the comments in the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency in the Upper West Region when he addressed party constituency delegates as they elected officers for a four-year term last Sunday.

He said the PNC, which shares the ideals of Ghana's first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, was poised to make a huge impact on the 2016 general election after beginning unity talks with the Convention People's Party (CPP), supposed to be the remnant of the party Nkrumah actually formed.

New executives

"We have begun moves to unite the PNC and the CPP, and by the positive results so far, the political stage must brace for something different in 2016," he said.

In all 14 executive members, including six women, were elected to steer the affairs of the party in the Nadowli-Kaleo constituency, with Mr Lawrence Kuubata as chairman and Mr Germamus K. Dandeebo as his vice.
