It is inevitable. Granger, if a fair man will see the state gets its due but those doing the management and purchasing and equipment delivery and labor sourcing and banking will not be PPP coolies. No bobby, or Beharry Or Geetha the crook, or Braxxingron name will appear on the offices of the oil managers and I am just ecstatic. Alyhu coolie like fu steal a dime here and run drug scam here and there and pinch a penny from the nations till here and there and laugh all the way to the bank about smarts. Well laugh now as the reverse is bound to happen with the new economy.

Guyana has no deep water harbor, nor companies which can supply the oil industry, it will be Trinis who will get those contracts.  Indeed they already are.  CAL flights are now full of them.

Much will be done off shore and then sent to Trinidad for processing and further shipment.  Don't see Guyana getting a harbor for super tankers in the name term.

Jagdeo leased out the mouth of the berbice river, some 20 hectares of land to bobby and E Beharry for 25 years. Any refinery has to be build in Essequibo. Oil on ships is not working for the Canadians. It will inevitably be piped to shore.

Why Essequibo when Trinidad is only a few miles further and has all the infrastructure, expertise and suppliers that are needed?

Can the Essequibo accommodate super tankers at low tide, because we know that neither the Berbice or Demerara can?

Unless the quantities are massive or oil prices soar I just don't see any one sinking the billions which will be needed to build everything from scratch.

It is easier to lay pipes on the continental shelf than in deep ocean between the two states. One is a 120 mile run the other is over twice that through deep sea

ISIS is making a profit and funding a war with portable oil refineries.

ISIS is one thing.  Exxon is another.  It is a major global corporation so I don't think will engage in small ventures.

Trinidad is also on the South American continental shelf, lying as it does a scant 7 miles off-shore.

The question will revolve around the cost of building and maintaining a large deep water harbor to accommodate large super tankers, and all the ecological issues involved, plus the risks of the still ongoing border dispute, vs. laying pipes to an already existing infrastructure.  The venture will already be high cost, given that its a deep water operation.  Oil prices also aren't what they were a year ago, and no one seems to project a return to those prices either.

You do know that Trinidad is actively seeking a role in all of this as their reserves are becoming increasingly finite.  They may even chip in some funds for the pipe line.

the area of were the discovery is is over 450 miles from TT and across deep water. It is 120 miles from Gy shores at the mouth of the Esseq ( hence the stabroek block). There are ample places to build a refinery with deep enough water. Tech and modularity has made that a simple compared to previously.

Well if the plan to build a full fledged harbor for super tankers there aren't going to be any benefits for Guyana before 2020.  Deep water drilling will require scale to make it viable.

Granger is not you lil Buck bai.  Now, will mainly Blacks work the platforms, highly likely.  But just like with Bauxite, Gold, Manganese, all from back in the days when it was dominated by well paid Afros, all the money eventually come to town and spent on goods and services rolling through the national economy.

Even your lil piwari stall will be lifted by the rising tide.

Blacks on the platforms are already Trinis.  This is a skilled job and it will take time for Guyanese to get the expertise.  In the meantime they will have to be happy with offering catering, transportation, accommodation, and similar services.

The oil industry isn't labor intensive any way, so there will not be many jobs available.

I may be wrong. I don't think Nigeria has an oil refinery. I cannot see Guyana getting a huge oil refinery. The Chinese are buying crude from everybody these days. And they are building a railroad across the Amazon. I can picture them having tankers being filled some distance away from the platform-close enough. These are the days of micro refineries. Perhaps Guyana will refine crude for its domestic needs. A reasonable size refinery can be set up quite easily. In fact, a group did approach Ramotar on the idea.

What a pathetic, insignificant, insecure, bigotted little man! Many indians made themselves rich in as oil merchants  piggybacking on funding by rice farmers to create a local distribution and a shipping industry, what prohibits blacks who will control massively more oil and money from doing the same? You are s bloody stupid man. But your accounting skills into action and see what potential lies here. Why do you think the Marriott was build, and why Jagdeo farmed out 20 hectares for 25 years to his butty Bobby, E Beharry Geeta SIngh etc at the mouth of the berbice river? Those crooks think they are in the money! They are cut out completely with Granger in charge and he will bring in people he knows who will inevitably be his close circle of friends and associates to help him if a   oil industry is to emerge.

Dude, your pretense that you are some how better than others is stymied by the fact you still are an insubstantial prick at this point.

I am speaking on the sale and distribution of oil in Guyana and the managing the monies. It made many Millionaires of illiterate tribes men in the Congo, equatorial guinea  and the same is emerging in South Sudan. One of my class mates and still good friend from  A levels through College father was a Nigerian Minister in the 70's through the 80s and he is a billionaire  ( jailed for a period) but has mansions in Belgium, South of France and here in MD. And this fellow was not even handling oil just acting as conduits for oil sale .  There will be loads of cash with oil and we should be thankful the PPP are not going to get their hands on it if granger plays his card right.

Learn to read/comprehend, that's what I said.  Afros will likely dominate as workers on the rigs and other aspects of the of the extractive process.  Indians will benefit in other components of the of the value-chain and the wider economy as the wealth ripples through the economy.   There is space for everyone.
