Ocasio-Cortez Rips Bloomberg on Stop and Frisk: 'Just a Billionaire Trying to Cover Up Authoritarian and Racist Policy'

"Stop and frisk was an unconstitutional, devastating practice for the entire city."

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Thursday that Democratic presidential candidate and businessman Michael Bloomberg is "just a billionaire trying to cover up authoritarian and racist policy" if he does not commit to  providing relief to those ensnared by the racist stop and frisk policy he supported as mayor of New York City.

"Will people get their records expunged? Will young people sucked into the spiderweb of incarceration get their lives back?" Ocasio-Cortez asked on Twitter in response to a Bloomberg article about its owner's efforts to "move past" his record on stop and frisk, which has received renewed scrutiny in recent days.

"Unless there is restorative justice, there is no 'moving on' from stop and frisk," added Ocasio-Cortez, who endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders in the 2020 Democratic presidential race.

Ocasio-Cortez's comments came days after progressive radio host Benjamin Dixon posted to Twitter an audio clip of a 2015 speech in which Bloomberg defended stop and frisk as necessary and dismissed its harms as "unintended consequences."

After the clip went viral, Bloomberg issued a statement distancing himself from his past comments on stop and frisk.

"This issue and my comments about it do not reflect my commitment to criminal justice reform and racial equity," said Bloomberg.

Ocasio-Cortez told reporters Wednesday that she found Bloomberg's statement woefully inadequate.

"I think quite a few things happened under him as mayor," said Ocasio-Cortez. "Frankly, we all know 'stop and frisk'β€”that was my family, and that was my community, and that was my neighborhood, and we know this was a policy that decimated a lot of families."

Never kind that big mouth woman, what's going on, why is trump a racist and nothing is being done about it by his Republican stooges.?

Just saw something on blacks throwing their votes on Bloomberg, they are willing to forgive him because they feel he's a threat to your hero trump. Imagine that, they dislike trump that much they prefer someone like Bloomberg to that idiot.

A brutal civil war has broken out in the Democratic Party  as the left wing of the party refuses to accept a blatantly racist candidate. The squad is out in full force !

This is fun to watch.

Hey Hey Hey

Is it as much fun as Trump telling Cruz that Melania can get man faster than Heidi and Cruz telling Trump to leave Heidi the hell alone?

Bai Kaz, posting pictures like those will further escalate the Democrat Civil War from the squad because they now feel lesser and insecure.

Kudos to the most beautiful women on the right compared to the rotten old bags led by Nancy on the left. Using dollar store cosmetics can’t help the old bags on the left.

hey Hey Hey

Move to the right for beauties that will make your heart flatter.

Move to the leff for old bags who can’t wake up your billy.

Why is it that women on the left lack class and can scare away jumbie ?

Bai, don't confuse looks with brains. The women on the right are indeed attractive but as soon as they begin speaking I begin to think that talking is not the best use of their mouths. The women on the left are endowed with much more smarts.

If Bernie Sanders is the Democratic nominee, Democrats can kiss the house and senate goodbye, if they have a chance of regaining the majority in the senate. The congressmen and women from down south will be tossed out with Bernie's social democrat label. Trump will kill Bernie with Socialism. The Democratic party better stop and look at the future if Bernie Sanders is their candidate.

Bai Skelly, the party can’t get ahead of itself and allow the media to set their agenda and decide on candidates. That’s for voters in the party to decide.

Let us assume that Bernie is given a raw deal. His supporters are a significant amount and they will stay home which hands Trump a victory. The party has to give Bernie his chance and that’s how democracy works.

The left wing of the party will fight back. What makes you think that Bernie can’t beat Trump ? Just because the media is pushing that narrative ? The man has some strong social justice policies that cannot be denied.

Bernie has always maintained that he is an independent. He caused HC to lose in 2016. Let's hope he does not get the nomination or a majority in SC or NV. Hope Biden shows up well.

I like Bernie because it seems that for all his civic life, his strives were never for personal and selfish gains. We are not sure how the primaries will pan out but whoever is the Democratic candidate must be supported because we need to stop the current nonsense. Nothing has happened in this country in the past three plus years. Everyday is inundated by one antiman thing or the other from Trump. It is getting really tiresome.

Bernie will cause them to lose the senate and the house by losing the southern part of the US and purple states.
