In celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations, the World Harmony Foundation today conferred on Guyana’s former Prime Minister and First Vice-President, Moses Nagamootoo, the “Outstanding Harmony for Peace Award for 2020” in recognition of what the Awards Committee described as his “illustrious career”.

This year’s Award was also bestowed on Yukio Hatoyama, former Prime Minister of Japan; and Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyjesus, Director General of the World Health Organisation.

The WHF is a non-government organisation that has been working with the United Nations during the past 15 years to promote social goals.

Both its President Frank Liu and Co-Founder Richard Jordan noted the contributions of Guyana towards realisation of these goals.

Liu mentioned the outstanding public role of Mr. Nagamootoo over six decades, as well as his recent stint as Guyana’s Chairman of the National Covid-19 Task Force; while the veteran UN staffer, Mr. Jordan, commended him for accepting earlier this year, on Guyana’s behalf, Chairmanship of the Group of 77 and China.

The Presentation Ceremony was held in New York this morning during a virtual meeting of the Awards Committee, which is headed by former US Congressman, Lester Wolff.

In brief remarks, former Prime Minister Nagamootoo extended greetings to Secretary General Antonio Guterres as he applauded the positive leadership of the United Nations in the fight for peace, citing the ceasefire truce in Libya as the most recent example.

But he pointed out that “the battle is far from over”, and called for renewed efforts to defeat systemic racism and neo-fascism, and remove dangerous threats to the sovereignty of nations.

This is a well deserved award , bestowed on a true patriot.  Nagamootoo was too bright for many of the nitwits in the PPP.  I have known him for almost half a century and can attest to his superb intellectual skills.

This was the guy who lied about Jagan bestowing leadership to him, and willingly accepted a diminished role as PM under Granger...and the person who was rejected by his own villagers in Whim in 2015 and 2020.

Where were his intellectual skills and credibility then?

Jagan was aware of his intellectual skills.  Nothing you wrote is related to intellectual skills.

Plus he braagged to Jagdeo to "bring it on" when he had no idea what was being brought on. Wasn't too bright that night. Had he been he would have orchestrated a quorum defect and save his Coalition the disgrace they endured after the NCM until August 2020 and beyond.

Moses Nagamootoo [and his law practice staff] is one of the few lawyers who did lots of pro bono work for charitable organizations. Including registering their names at his cost. Nearby Ramjattan's office also did the same.

Moses  family also work with other retired legal persons  to establish safe houses for women, regarding domestic violence.

A person would have been able to maneuver among what I wrote to come out on top if he really had intellectual skills.

What exactly are his intellectual skills?

Nandlall was in diapers [1976] and skilled in stealing law books, when Moses was parting the sea as a writer and a seasoned politician.

Are you nuts. If that was the case then Jagan and his wife would have gotten belly work when they start to think that Moses out to get their position.

Moses overcharged many of his former PPP friends for rudimentary legal work.

Tola talking crap.

The organization that gave him the award is ignorant of his dirty ways over the last decade.  That award is not well deserved.

Hope they take it back like what South Africans did with Guyana's first dictator,  Forbes Burnham

He has done a lot for the PPP.  This award was bestowed upon him for his contribution to Guyana while he was a member of the PPP.  Unfortunately, he became stagnant with the PNC. He did nothing to be proud of.

Exceptional ppl never last too long in the PPP.

The Award is a nice jesture for Moses, it shows something for his years as a PPP stalwart. For Guyana, he failed in its unification of the races. His last attempt would have been memorable, unfortunately Granger and Harmon pervented that to materialize. As Harmon said, "Moses is Royalty." Certainly, six decades earned him that recognition.

Freddie Kisson thought the man was dying.

Far more superior than yours which has a shelf life less than a banana.

How come you forget that you were also there with him ?

You and Nandlall reminds me of Bibi in primary school whom I lent my text book for her homework. The next day she denied I lent her the book, but blatantly carried it to school. Why are some Bibi so crooked ?

The PPP don't seem to like people more educated than them. Instead of building on people's education and experience for the betterment of all, they seems to be embarrassed and get rid of them.

Moses was never a brilliant lawyer. He was a crooked Lawyer. The only case he won was the one where he challenged Harmon for the chairmanship of useless cabinet meetings.

Over the last decade, he was not an active politician. He was still brooding over the fact that he didn't get the PPP's Leadership. The award is for wimps.

You should know wimps.  Your students said you were a failure as a teacher and you shovel your driveway snow into a wheelbarrow and put it in your garbage can.

This is exactly what BJ did to my PhD professor friend who sold his house, left his job, took his wife and kids to Guyana, did PR work for the PPP, but was suddenly chucked from the party. He returned to the US and the university gave him back his job.

He certainly wasn't too smart if he packed up his house, wife and picknees and went to shithole Guyana. He got exactly what he deserved. Jagdeo always seem to know what other people are worth.

Jagdeo is not worth knowing the value of people.  The PPP invite people to return and help build Guyana and they treat the people like crap.

A Canadian was invited to train teachers in certain skills. But she was treated so badly by the PPP, including government people hitting on her, that she returned to Canada within a few months. Most in the PPP lost all dignity, regarding how to treat others, especially women.

The PPP don't like people whom they perceive smarter than them and most in the PPP have little education.  They strive to become members of the government, so they can stand above dem mattie on a pedestal.
