Potential Romney VPs take the stage

WASHINGTON – As Mitt Romney spent Thursday attempting to knock the wind out of President Barack Obama's economy-focused address, two Republican senators largely considered to be in the top tier of potential vice presidential choices did the same.

Sens. Marco Rubio, of Florida, and Rob Portman, of Ohio, followed the Republican presidential nominee's lead and pre-butted Obama's speech in Ohio with appearances and statements throughout the day.

TEAM ROMNEY: LOOKS LIKE A ONE TERM PROPOSITION

Obama: "I will be held accountable. I have 4 years. If I dont get this done in 3 years this will be a one term proposition."

Only dedicated obama kool aid drinkers will vote for him in November---he said it himself---"this will be a one term proposition."

THE RESULTS IN NOVEMBER ARE ALREADY WRITTEN IN STONE!

Romney will pull 52% of the popular votes---that will win him the electoral college.

GALLUP: MORE BAD NEWS FOR OBAMA

quote:
"President Obama's job approval rating averaged 47% in May, unchanged from April, and exactly the same as George W. Bush's and Gerald Ford's ratings in May of their re-election years. Bush ended up winning by three percentage points in 2004, while Ford lost by two points in 1976. Obama's average is well below the May re-election-year averages of Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, both of whom won, but above the May averages of George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter, who lost."

Remember folks---the popular vote in the house in the 2010 midterm predicted the winner in Nov 2012:

Romney 52% = 300+ electoral votes.

This is why Obama will lose. Since when has any party in opposition ever desired the governing party to look good?  The role of the opposition is to attempt to win back power by making the governing arty look incompetent. This is true in EVERY democratic nation.

Obama cries like a baby and thinks that this shows leadership.  It shows that he is unable to handle the GOP.  He ought to take a page out of the Clinton play book when he got his way over Newt Gringrich and won a second term.

I am curious to know why you think that the GOP ought to support Obama when their poilitical philosophy is diametrically opposed to theirs.  Just because Obama bent over and let the GOP write the script, until he suddenly remembered that he has an election and his base are frustrated with him, doesnt mean the GOP will do so.  No they want power and they will get it  by frustrating Obama to make him look ineffective and incompetent, even if likeable. His wails and his shrieks are proving them right, which is why he is so low in the polls against Romney who is an idiot scarcely more capable than Dan Quayle.

o

Obama needs to learn that 50 minutes of philosophy bores most people. He needs to tell Americans in a few sound bites why he is different and why they will suffer if they allow Romney to win.

They now know they made an egregious mistake when they elected muslim born kenyan Odinga Hussein Obambi in 2008. Stick a fork in that clown. He is 100% guaranteed to be a one term president. For the sake of America, the white people will elect a person in November who knows how the American economy works; who knows how to take responsibility. That man is Mitt Romney. There is no such thingt as "white people".  Some people who happen to be white are very conservative, some ultra liberal and many in between.  This is not a monolithic group.

Any way given that many whites will vote Obama (maybe as many as 40%)depending on old uneducated white folks is a sure recipe for defeat.  Obama got more of the young white, and the college educated vote last time, and might do the same this time.  His problem is that many young voters arent impressed with him and hate Romney so mightnt vote.

Cribman....Romney can say till the cows come home.....the economy sucks under Obama....Obama has no clue, etc. etc. But the time is coming when he HAS to SAY something about what's he's about. Did you see him wanting media coverage over the weekend, but refusing to answer questions on immigration? Have you seen him talk about the Ryan economic plan he adopted and where he would get the revenue from closing tax loopholes as he claims.

Media scrutiny of Romney hasn't begun yet. The country will want to know what he stands for, etc. He will say Obama is in over his head....he had 4 years and we're moving fast enough, he's standing in the way. Then he will repeat the mantra - lower taxes and smaller government. Then Obama will say, re3covering from a financial crisis is more painful from the other recessions we've had. He will say that the Republicans want the country to burn just to get a Black man out of the White House. He will say look where Romney wants to take you, and look where I want to take you. Look where I've brought you from - 3/4 million job losses per month to positive job growth for 27 consecutive months.

Cribman....you're repeating the same tired cliches from a year ago. Try something new.

Romney is a weak candidate but somehow still running neck-and-neck with Obama.

After the candidates are declaired, that indeed happens in all elections.

Obama's big problem, he has 38% of white votes.  He needs 40% with the current high levels of Black and Hispanic votes to win.

Romney' big problem, he has only 27% of Latin votes which could cost him the election.  He needs well over 50% to win with others remaining as they are.

Net net, Obama has the advantage as he seem to have frozen Romney out of the Latin vote where even Rubio has back-tracked.  If Obama gets a good job report by Nov, he will win.

The job report indeed is an indicator, but the sum-total of the issues will provide President Barack Obama the victory.

If Romney continues with his generalised expressions, it is likely that he will loose substantial support from his party plus the undecided voters.

True there Rev, but the die is already cast and I think Obama has the edge, unless some major economic meltdown.  Romney just not connecting so the people will go with Obama.  The blue collar and red-necks already with Romney while blacks and Latinos overwhelmingly with Obama.  The educated whites are gong more to Obama especially the more Romney talks.  His talk has a lot of fluff, little punch on any specific issue and comes across insincere.  His pandering to the far right during the Primary is now coming back to haunt, especially in immigration.  He was so out of touch with even Perry and Gingrich, it's not funny.

So unfortunately, looks like we are stuck with Hussein "Obama" until 2016.

The Rev is racist and malicious as these backward rightwingers. Romney is Grover Rover. He fetch and carry for the likes of him. He is without firm footing on anything and sees the world through the lenses of the neocons. We might as well have GW back in office only with less of a spine.

All the ramblings of Obama this or that liberally slathered with your racist slime is for naught. This economy is largely a the Bush economy. The present debt is solely the bush era debt.

Obama's failings is that he did not use his two years with a democratic majority wisely. He should have been pushing in all his rebuilding programs instead of wasting his political capital on health care reform.

That should have been his second term effort.  Those wasted years trying to build a compromise with racist rightwingers is his albatross. Given this and the potential of the same old failed policies of the republicans and definitely their gripe for a war with Syria and Iran, we are better off with Obama and his lessons learnt.

America has a better chance at digging itself our of its economic quagmire at his hands than at the hands of the neocon predatory rich on poor economic policy at home and their aggressive proactive war agenda abroad.

Cribman....you're repeating the same tired cliches from a year ago. Try something new.

1.  The economy does suck under Obama.  Its not his fault.  Most Americans say agree with him on this.  They voted for him because they thought he could fix it, but sadly Obama thought that a bore and wasted time on his Obamacare and wanted to move onto wind/solar power.  Alas if Romney wins Obamacare is over so what will be his legacy?

2.  MAny Americans, frustrated with Obama's whining might give Romney a chance to fix it even though they arent inspired by him. The truth is Obama and his "Hope and Change" is a joke that even liberal comedians now laugh at.  Romney is a moderate and many moderates feel comfortable with him, thinking that he must make right wing noises to shore up the base.  After all if he was governor of the most liberal state in the nation how conservative is he, so they will think.

3.  You ought to know by now that the media will not scrutinize Romney. They are either owned by the military defense complex which "wants their country back", or are liberals who want to show how "objective" they are by being "fair" to the GOP by not tearing to pieces the nonsense that they spew.

4. It is Obama's job to tear Romney/Ryan to pieces. Instead he alternatively whines that the GOP dont treat him like the Brown Jesus or offers some long winded piece of philosophy. The issue is most Americans are at the most basic level of literacy and have no ability to comprehend beyond the sound bite except if it is a discussion of sports, their stock portfolios, the homes and how bad their spouses/kids treat them.

Obama's only hope is to tear up Romney in the debates w/o loking to bright (Americans. being an anti-intellectual people hate intelligence).

5.  People who either have lost jobs, fear they will, or havent seen a pay increase,so  really dont care that statistically the economy is growing. Job growth has not kept apace with the growth of the laborforce and if one adds "discouraged workers" and the unwillingly part time, and those who got jobs but with a 50% pay cut we are talking about maybe 25% of the adult population.  Given that most of the remaining 75% know these people their concerns are shared.e

6.  Remember that even thbough Obama behaves like ahalf white man and has the WHITEST administration since Nixon many whites only voited for him because they feared Pallin taking over if McCain had a heart attack.  Romney will be viewed more favorably.

Bottom line Kari is that you can raise all sorts of rational arguments in support of Obama, and you may well be right in some instances.  You arent a lower middle class white American from a red state.  Sadly they account for a large % of the voters and so will define what happens.  You do

Here is the problem.  In 2008 blacks accounted for 13% of the voters.  A sharp increase over their normal 10%.  This time the numbers will be as usual.  This will hurt Obama in states like Florida, NC and Virginia where he won with a slim margin.

Dont fool yourself about educated whites.  The intellectual element will go Obama.  The bulk of the professional/managerial class will go Romney.  He is noyt a raving right win looney as Pallin is.  His values represent theirs.  Most of America still dont understand Obama.

Please remember something.  Romney is now raising more cash than Obama. And that doesnt even include the Super PACs. Swing states will be carpet bombed by pro Romney ads as they were under the primaries.  Unless there is a sharp improvement in the labor markets by September many will buy Romney's claim that he understands the economy as he comes from the private sector.

Both Romney and Obama are vague and this is indeed the problem.

Right now its a toss up.  Will Obama demolish Romney in the debates with his better grasp of the facts.  Will he aggressively inform Americans that Romneys plans for Social Security and Medicare will demolish middle class America.  Will he tell Americans that even though Obamacare doesnt fully address our health care crisis it does so way more than Romney will.

OR will Obama waste time with detractions that have nothing to do with what concerns most Americans.  Like his wind/solar power obsession, his pretense that most Americans dont admire wealth and fully expect that they too will share in it.  Will he philosophize as if he is at some Ivy League grad school where the audience likes to debate broad concepts, instead of to your average Americans he thinks the debates detract from watching female mud wrestling opr NASCAR....so can only grasp cheap and quick sound bites.

You are to numbers what a jackass is to steak. Peter Hart is speaking of expectations unmet not about reasons they exist or why they were unmet.

His job is to shape the agenda and his advise given his data is the perception of unmet expectations and a lack of recognizable messaging to address that.

Pollstrs do not "rebuke" anyone or their asses are without a job. The gentleman survived these past 3 decades because he knows better than  you how to frame his speech to the media to focus the voting public on the Particulars.

Obama Leads in Poll as Romney Seen Out of Touch

By Julie Hirschfeld Davis on June 20, 2012

Barack Obama has opened a significant lead over Mitt Romney in a Bloomberg National Poll that reflects the presumed Republican nominee’s weaknesses more than the president’s strengths.

Obama leads Romney 53 percent to 40 percent among likely voters, even as the public gives him low marks on handling the economy and the deficit, and six in 10 say the nation is headed down the wrong track, according to the poll conducted June 15- 18.

The survey shows Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, has yet to repair the damage done to his image during the Republican primary. Thirty-nine percent of Americans view him favorably, about the same as when he announced his presidential candidacy last June, while 48 percent see him unfavorably -- a 17-percentage point jump during a nomination fight dominated by attacks ads. A majority of likely voters, 55 percent, view him as more out of touch with average Americans compared with 36 percent who say the president is more out of touch.

Taken together, the results suggest an unsettled political environment for both Obama and Romney five months from the November election, with voters choosing for now to stick with a president they say is flawed rather than backing a challenger they regard as undefined and disconnected.

Importance of Turnout

“You can see in these data how important turnout will be,” says J. Ann Selzer of Des Moines, Iowa-based Selzer & Co. who directed the poll. “Those most enthusiastic about the election are more supportive of Romney, but Obama’s voters are more locked into their candidate than Romney’s. Building resolve to vote and making the vote stick is job one, and both candidates face obstacles toward getting that done.”

The presidential race is roughly tied among the most enthusiastic voters, 49 percent of whom back Romney compared with 48 percent for Obama. Still, Romney inspires far less enthusiasm even among his supporters than does Obama, with 35 percent of Romney backers saying their support for him is “very strong,” compared with 51 percent of Obama backers who say so.

“I would rather choose to vote for someone else, but there’s no one but Obama,” says John Sunde, a 57-year-old Verizon central office technician from Brentwood, New York, when asked which candidate would get his vote. “He hasn’t fulfilled a lot of his campaign promises, but I would vote for him anyway because Romney would be extremely destructive for this country.”

Could Do Worse

Sunde, an independent, gives Obama low grades for dealing with the economy yet says Romney would do worse. “His perspective is you just let the free market take care of everything, and we’ll go right down the toilet drain, and everything -- all the jobs -- will go straight to Asia,” Sunde says of Romney.

The poll of 1,002 adults has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points for the full sample. Questions asked of the 734 likely voters have a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points. Its findings are at odds with other recent national surveys that have found the two candidates tied or shown a slight advantage for Obama or Romney.

Poll Details

Thirty-eight percent of those surveyed in Bloomberg’s poll say they consider themselves Democrats or independents who lean that way and 33 percent consider themselves Republicans or independents who lean Republican, a 5-point Democratic advantage. In 2008, the presidential election exit polls showed the Democrats with a 7-point advantage.

The Democratic advantage in the Washington Post’s May poll sample was 10 points, while the one in the New York Times’ April survey was 8 points and the Wall Street Journal’s May poll was 7 points.

In the Bloomberg Poll, 53 percent of those surveyed were women and 67 percent were white, in line with other national polls. Obama fares better among white voters than he does in other surveys, drawing support from 43 percent compared with 50 percent backing Romney.

Beyond Romney’s low favorability ratings, the poll reflects perceived weaknesses for the Republican challenger both in style and substance. Only 31 percent of likely voters say they’d want to sit next to Romney on a long airplane flight, compared with 57 percent who prefer Obama as a seat mate.

You might well get what you wish.  When Romney crushes you with his plans to return the USA to what it was in the 19th century. No regu;lation therefore the powerful will exploit the rest of us meaning pollution, toxic food and dangerous drugs..and another financial meltdown.

No social security for you. NO medicare.  health insurance paid by you......meaning up to $2500/month if you have a family.

No contraception for your kids so if your daughter gets pregnant she us a baby mama as no abortions either.

And BTW the economy in 2016 will be back where it was in 2008.

Even you know that life in October 2008 is a whole lot worse than it is today.

But then what really angers you is a black president.  Good news for you as he is half white, was raised only by whites, had virtually no contact with blacks until he was in his 20s.  So maybe you can change your mind and understand that the deeply flawed aObama is a whole lot better than the disastrous Romney.

Not that bad Caribj.  You were making a lot of sense until you dug up this crap.  Romney will be unable to get most of these things done.  Obama still has a edge but in Romney wins, like Obama he will find talk is cheap.

You see, even Obama mid-east doctrine is in tatters.  Nothing is ever a straight line as they like to talk.
