One of the two sewing machines presented the Uitvlugt Side-Line Dam women’s group

Following a community outreach in Uitvlugt, two months ago, a commitment was made to the Uitvlugt Side-Line Dam women’s group by the PPP/C government to work with the women of that community to assist them with some equipment for the group, so that the can execute projects in sewing, catering and cake decorating.

In response to this, Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Jennifer Webster today presented two sewing machines to the group which is part of the group’s request to the Minister. Minister Webster noted that the other items, which include fabric, thread, baking pans and cake decorating utensils, will be delivered shortly.

Why is that Webster gives two sewing machines to a group and the whole world must know about it and one Canadian Guyanese who have been returning to Guyana for the past three years with 20 sewing machines every time, to teach women to sew during a three-month program and leave the machones with them, is not heard about.

Every year this university lecturer collects donated sewing machines and take sewing material to Guyana [New Amsterdam, #68 Village and Bush Lot Village [ Berbice]etc ] to teach sewing. He has also assisted the women to get contracts to make school uniforms. He was a tailor before his university career.

And not one media report was done about his program.

Is the PPP serious about building Guyana or their main focus is to get votes by what they do or give. Do they do anything without a photo opportunity ?
