Regarding our ancestors from India/Africa/etc. to Guyana and our emigration to other countries, with our children born in foreign lands, who might have  little knowledge about our past family.  I have started to document our family history, because our children and others are asking questions  about our ancestors.

So including telling individual stories,  I have also  decided to document as much information that I can gather and also remember, to establish a network of younger family members in different countries, who are given this  information that might be preserved for future generations.

I discovered personal audio and video recordings are good to a certain extent, but writing this story is much better for the challenging parts.  Its bit difficult to start, but once I began, I found myself writing every day.

My story is written in different chronological parts, starting from birth to different significant sections of my life, so I can add to the individual parts, as I remember certain incidents  and issues.  Because writing about one incident, can trigger a memory  about an incident from another year.

I believe this should be something everyone should attempt to do.  Because as we age, similar to  the people who passed-on before us, most of our family historical information can be lost, if not documented and our children  would lose an important part of their history. This is particular important  if they live in a country that is different from the one we were born in and grew up, with cultural differences.
