Meghan McCain praises Tulsi Gabbard for voting 'present' on impeachment

'The View' co-host praises Democrat Tulsi Gabbard for her vote in Trump impeachment.

"The View" co-host Meghan McCain commended Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, on Thursday as the congresswoman faced criticism over her decision to vote "present" on impeaching President Trump.

"I was watching the impeachment process when I got home last night and I too would not have voted for it," McCain said. "And I actually think Tulsi Gabbard has absolute balls of steel to vote present because that's what I would have done if I were her as well."

Gabbard skipped the procedural votes in the morning and just as the first vote on impeachment for abuse of power was winding down, Gabbard stunned with her lone “present” vote. She followed with a second “present” vote on obstruction of Congress.

'THE VIEW' EXPLODES AS MEGHAN MCCAIN AND WHOOPI GOLDBERG CLASH OVER IMPEACHMENT

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., criticized the decision.

“Today was very consequential, and to not take a stand one way or another, on a day of such great consequence to this country, I think is quite difficult,” Ocasio-Cortez said after the votes. “We are sent here to lead.”

Gabbard, a 2020 presidential candidate, has been one of the few Democrats to publicly criticize her caucus' decision to pursue an impeachment inquiry. Prior to Wednesday's vote, Gabbard suggested the House should vote to censure President Trump instead of approving articles of impeachment.

In a statement explaining her vote, Gabbard said she couldn't vote "in good conscience" either for or against impeachment.

Tulsi stuck to her principles! I saw awhile back she did thought the evidence was not as overwhelming as her peers made it out!

Anyway, she agreed with Trump on several other key issues, so she was not going to backstab him!

I watch de Democrat Presidential candidate debate last night. Nothing of substance. No Russian assistance will be need this election. They had a doctor on hand just in case dem old men have a medical emergency on stage.

Funny you bring up Benghazi bai. Here are the difference. The Benghazi tragedy involved officers in the Obama's administration acting without Obama's direction that resulted in that tragedy and its subsequent cover up. In the case of Ukraine, it was Trump who directed officers of his administration to undermine the efforts of Congress in order to undermine Biden's prospects in the 2020 elections. And worse yet for Trump is that it is probably Buttigieg who he will be running against in 2020. In summary, Obama is no crook and didn't not commit any crooked acts during his 8 years in the white house and 3 years since. On the other hand, Trump was crooked before he moved to the white house, has been crooked while there are it is reasonable to believe that he will be crooked after he leaves. I don't even know why Republicans willing place their heads on the block for him since he is not even a Republican.

Remember I am retired and is a news junkie so I am informed. Keep in mind I first brought up the issue of the Democrats not handing over the articles of impeachment to the Senate thereby denying Trump an acquittal. Looks like MAGA people don't want to hear the facts.
