I do not like Hammie, but he is the choice of the people when they were asked the last time in 1994, who they want for Mayor.

The PPP can only dispose of him by asking the people this question again.

Kishan, after that extraordinary meeting in City Hall compound recently, I posted my views as follows: "But this is where a big political hurricane is brewing and will blow away all the decisions of yesterday's extraordinary meeting.

I don't think the impending hurricane will take the form of local government elections.

The PPP knows it will not win in Georgetown.

So, the PPP will most likely take the extraordinary and expedient step to disband the City Council and impose a handpicked Interim Management Committee."

Lo and behold, the PPP issued a statement today demanding that the government disband the present City Council and instal an Interim Management. See Demerara Waves.

This is an indication that the PPP will not hold local government elections when they know they will lose in Georgetown.

The only "coming out into the street" that will happen will be semi criminal elements working with local bosses.  And they will "protest" with agun at the head of some small business man demanding cash.

Regular black folks are tired of getting shot by PPP police and think that its about time Indians stop griping about the PPP and go on the street with placards, instead of making fools of themselves protesting the opposition for money that will only end up in the pockets of oligarchs.
