Multiple champions Carmel relegated to face Temple for third place

Pentecostal Fire and South Assembly are to square off tonight to decide the new champions of the 11th annual Pentecostal Fire Church organized Linden Inter Church basketball champion at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court.
The eight time champions Mount Carmel will have to settle for a third place against the other losing semifinalists Calvary Temple and that game is one set for 19:00hrs before the final at 21:00hrs.
Fire won their preliminary game against South by a 41-37 score-line and this means that the final should go down to the wire.
Emmanuel Archibald and Vibert Benjamin are their best performers so far with Archibald getting 16 when they lost versus the Fire, but had 14 as Benjamin top scored in their semifinal win 57-55, with 18 points, while Daniel Anthony is another player to watch for the South Assembly team. Add Donnel Benjamin to the cast and the South side looks capable of carting off honours this time around.
But Yannick Tappin seems to have come into his own after setting the stage for the win over South earlier in the tournament and he had a top score of 24 points when they beat Calvary Temple in the semifinals.
Along with the former junior national Marlon Pollydore getting back to his scoring touch with 21 points and Keifer Tappin contributing 16 and entering with an unbeaten run so far makes the Fire favourites to come out on top. They also have Theodore Tappin, and Linnel Warden to rely on in bringing them victory tonight.
The first game for third place will see the defeated champions Carmel seeking to salvage pride and the Webster brothers Joel, Adrian and Domain are among the best players for the Carmel side which should not take the Temple side lightly.
While Geoffrey LaRose, the past junior national stand-out is their spearhead, he will look to his brother Immanuel and Kevin Daniels to provide adequate support as they make a pitch to take third spot.
