[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Minister of Public Infrastructure says that the Linden to Lethem road which suffered partial collapses in the past days should be accessible to traffic from today, Saturday, May 23 but that accessibility would have restrictions.

In a statement to the media, the Ministry noted that “temporary bypasses are currently under construction in an effort to alleviate the traffic build-up due to the erosion of culverts which caused two sections – Miles 1 and 12 – from Annai heading towards Lethem to collapse. The road link is essential for transporting goods and other commodities to and from Lethem.”

Man stabbed to death on Guyline to use bathroom.

A 52-year-old farmer of Mahaicony was stabbed to death on Monday evening during a heated argument with his sister’s boyfriend over the use of the washroom.

According to reports, Alvy Richmond returned home just before 6pm and was rushing to use the toilet when he discovered that the door was locked.

The man’s brother in law reportedly answered that he was in the bathroom and that Richmond would have to wait his turn. The two got into a big argument according to relatives, and Richmond challenged the sister’s boyfriend to get out of the washroom area and prove himself.

The sister’s boyfriend eventually left the washroom and Richmond headed into it, but as he came out the two men got into a fight over the argument and washroom use. Richmond was stabbed to his chest and died at home while family members were rushing him to the hospital. The brother in law has been arrested.

Home invasion on the rise. Just kick down the door. Beat them, rob them, do anything with them and walk free. Thanks to the PNC govt.

Police on Sunday said they were investigating the brutal stabbing death of 72-year-old Mahaicony farmer Deoroop Sieuchand. The elderly man was left to die in his home as his wife was also badly beaten by bandits who invaded their home on Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

A 10-year-old child who was also in the house escaped the wrath of the bandits by hiding in a cupboard in the house.

The incident has renewed questions about the crime situation in the country and calls for the Police force to step up its presence in a number of communities that have become clear targets for criminals and criminal activities.

Last week, Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee announced that during this year, police officers will be exposed to more training to boost their investigative skills.
