With all he may have done, he never gave them freedom chose and chart their destiny. He ran it like his private empire where nepotism and cronyism seems the natural order. Anyone who dares to criticize was put down. When the people rose up, he mowed them down like dogs, and he eventualy ended up like one.

So apart from what you said, seems the people saw thinks differently. Gadhafi was so much loved that he had African mercenaries protecting him down to the very end.

quote from someone I know...

"I have in my circle two Libyans, not related to each other and from different parts of Libya. Both fled Libya, one because he wanted a real university education and the other because a family member was a politician resulting in the family being harassed and several members killed. They both describe a country where the majority is dirt poor. Yes you get free healthcare, if you don't mind dying whilst waiting in line for low quality care that no one would actually pay money for. Benefits like the free housing etc, try getting them if you are not a Gadaffi loyalist. I've never been to Libya, I can only draw conclusions from people who I know that lived there, which I much rather do that basing my conclusions on people who always seem to have an anti US agenda anyways. My opinion is that Gadaffi spread money outside of Libya, especially in Africa to make himself loved. But the reality is that back home his people were suffering, disagree with anything he said and you were going to be killed. I have a hard time seeing somebody like that as a hero. "

history shows that the dictators that were not installed by the USA and Britain were better. In reality the lesser of the two evils.

I am not a fan of Ghadafi He killed one of my teacher.

but will Libyan be better under the new govt?

Lots of people including Guyanese benefited from the Islamic Call society which Ghadafi bankrolled.
