REMINDER: US Labels Guyana President Granger anti-Indian Racist...
A US diplomatic cable from Georgetown to the State Department on June 27, 1974, says that David Granger, now President of Guyana, “had a history of being an “anti-East Indian racist”. At that time, Granger was serving as a major in the Guyana Defence Force that used terror against the Indian population to control them and was primarily responsible for denying Indians the right to vote in rigged elections. The army killed several Indian election workers in July 1973, the day of voting, and seized ballot boxes. The ballots were dumped and replaced by votes for Granger’s party, PNC.
The diplomatic cable was released by Wikileaks.
The PNC has dismissed the allegation of their party leader as an anti-Indian racist.
I would like to add that unclassified documents proved that Burnham was installed into power by the CIA and has ruled Guyana under a dictatorship regime for 23 years. Now that this is public knowledge, why should we believe in and not the other? (We have file photos with Granger and his soldier moving ballot boxes during election time in Guyana). Are we going to deny our history?

Question: Why International observers were welcomed in 2015 and denied in 2020? This question was asked but never get answered. We all want fairness from our government and these are some of the daunting questions we must confront. If not, Guyana's democracy would be in peril.

If you are here to defend and Install an illegitimate president so you can maintain your position and bank accounts, you don't have the people's interest in mind. You are working for your own personal power and benefit. Plain and simple.

Let's give Granger the benefit of the doubt.
1. Volda Lawrence: PNC is my friend and I will only give jobs to my PNC people.
2. Carl Greenidge said in parliament: Cane cutters are coolie problems.
3. David Granger: He makes sure he sure that 10,000 cane cutters are out of jobs by closing sugar factories.
4. Ramjattan - Minister of Public Security: He was busy preparing for the jubilee celebration that he didn't want to be bothered with security issues, so he tell coolie to haul their asses. Ramjattan has to toe the PNC line.
5. These are just a few excerpts that I remember off my head.

I agree, there should be a statute of limitation to protect him. But looking at recent events that he engaged in prooved that he is the same person over 40 years ago. If Granger is repented, why would he allowed his ministers to speak in racist tone with immunity? Guyana is a multicultural society.

THE ELECTION CAMPAIGN IN 1953

Calling on Indians not to support the PPP, Daniel Debedin of the UFWP
urged then to "vote for your own", thus giving origin to the racist Hindi slogan of "Apan Jhaat".

Here is where it started ,67 years ago.

History can teach us may unforgiven moments that we may wish to forget, but this is a modern age for us to go back to that era. We are a multicultural society with a new oil economy. Guyana should be in the race to compete in the developed world. I am a Guyanese too and I know my history, but I willing to move forward and let history be history.
