Didn't start recently neither. It is some of the people, they are plain and simple vulgar. On my last visit just after Cheddie passed away, we came out of a yard and across the street is a school with a tree out front where a big man stood by it, whipped out Charly and peed in front of the dam school while the kids were playing in the yard...backward scum that one was. My first thought was to walk up and slam him into the tree but the couple I was with told me to stand back, leave it alone, "is dem people habit" they said.

Absolutely right. It's some of the people. You did the right thing though. Some of these people have mental and substance abuse problems.

It started when the mini-buses came to Guyana and BlPeople were fighting for Boomboxes to be installed in the buses.

The same wildness was happening at the cinemas when they were lining up for tickets.  The pushing and the grabbing!

At the market square, was the same happenings.

Guyanese people don't know about the queue although they were taught how to line up before entering school in the mornings.

It is not a shithole country because that's how you used to behave. Now that you went to NA and bought a color Television, you think that you are smarter than them, EH!

ABUSIVE BUS CONDUCTOR/ DRIVER ARRESTED
THE MINIBUS conduct/ driver who assaulted a female passenger at Saffon Street in the vicinity of Rubis Gas Station on April 12, 2021 is in police custody.
The young conductor/ driver assaulted Odella Peroune after she complained about the loud music which according to her was pounding her chest.
“ I didn’t expect him to do what he did... the phone came back to my face and burst my lip. I even bit my tongue” Said Peroune
Peroune and her 9-year-old son where both passengers of the Route 42 Georgetown to Timehri minibus BYY 8024 en route to Georgetown when the incident occurred.
She asked him six times to turn down the music but according to her, he did not. In fact, he asked her to come out of the bus.
She didn’t because she had not come to her destination and he could have simply turned down same.
However, he went to her as if he was going to speak to her but suddenly he became abusive; snatching her phone from her hand and injuring her lip in the process.
Notwithstanding that, she expressed sentiments of reluctance to have him go to jail, pointing out that he has family.
And she doesn’t want to hurt the smooth functioning of a family. “I refuse to be responsible for destroying a family it's more than just this incident it's a lot of people lives are involve; [for instance] his kids and his wife. I'm hoping this much attention will teach him a lesson” said Peroune.
However, the decision she makes now that he has been arrested is left to be seen; the Guyana Tribune is oblivious to same at this point.
The conductor was caught on video when he assaulted the woman.

this is not a political party issue. This is conduct of the people, the same people who elect the government, thus the malcontents we see in both parties that engage in the same behavior as this conductor.

A message needs to be sent and this is the perfect time to do it. He should have thought of his family before engaging in this behavior. These drivers need to understand they cannot be abusive to their passengers. A hefty fine should be enough to send the message.

Fined and suspension of license for a few months ,hopefully lessons will be learnt.

Let's not get carried away now. How will he pay his fine if he can't work? Fining him for abusing his passengers is enough.

Why in God's name, in FIFTY PLUS years, don't we have some rights of passengers or something in place to enforce and protect citizens?.

Under LFS when "choke and rob" started, Skip Roberts had the Bongo vans out in full force and plain clothes police in Water Street and around the markets.

Now lawlessness reigns.

28-year-old bus driver Josh Harry appeared in Court and was charged with making loud and continuous noise, improper conduct of the driver, failure to carry a conductor, and breach of condition of road service license.

The mini-bus driver who was caught on camera snatching a phone from a passenger and demanding she leaves his bus after she complained about the loud music, has been slapped with four charges and will be facing two others.

28-year-old bus driver Josh Harry of Soesdyke, appeared in Court and was charged with making loud and continuous noise, improper conduct of driver, failure to carry a conductor and breach of condition of road service license.

He pleaded not guilty to the four charges and was released on $30,000 bail.

The Police Force has indicated that he will face two additional charges of damage to property and assault.

Harry is expected back in Court on the 19th April.

In a video posted on Facebook, a female passenger of the mini-bus could be heard pleading with the driver to lower the profanity laced music that was being played in the bus.

The man refused to lower the music, and instead pulled to the side of the roadway where he asked the complaining passenger to leave the bus. When the woman refused as she continued to video record their confrontation, he snatched the phone from her hands.

He was confronted by some of the other passengers in the bus and a Police report was filed. He was arrested the day after the incident went viral on Facebook.

What region was that?  You know very well that the brothers refused to travel in a minibus if it didn't have a boom box.

How do you think we came up with this answer? "Aim for the boom box".

Guess what was the question.

Region 3 . There was a Mini Bus Association ,who worked towards satisfying passengers.

Installing audio in Private and Hire motor vehicles was part of my business ,way before mini bus came on the scene .I designed systems using more than one equalizer to drive tweeters and woofers. You seem to take prompt from fools.

I am talking about minibusses in Region 4. I bet you don't know that Indians couldn't travel on those buses because they were being abused by the rowdy brothers.

Bus driver in viral video fined $80, 000 for traffic offences

The bus driver who was seen in a widely circulated video assaulting a female passenger who had asked him to lower his music, was this morning slapped with several charges. 28-year-old Josh Harry of Back Road, Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara appeared before Senior Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Harry was slapped with five charges, namely breach of condition of road service license, making loud and continuous noise, conduct of driver, failing to carry a conductor, and conduct of driver. He pleaded guilty to all the offences which were committed on April 12, 2021, at Houston Public Road Greater, Georgetown. He was fined a total of $80,000 or in default five weeks’ imprisonment.

Facts presented by Police Prosecutor Sanj Jaisingh stated that on the day in question, Harry was the driver of route 42 minibus BYY 8024, which was proceeding north along Houston Public Road, when a passenger of the bus, Odila Peroune, 47, of Pearl, East Bank Demerara complained to him about loud, and continuous music which was becoming a nuisance.

The court heard the driver stopped the bus in a rash manner, approached the passenger, and snatched her cell phone out of her hand.  In the process of doing so, he hit her on her mouth, causing his conduct as a driver of public transportation, to be inappropriate. The matter was then reported and an investigation was carried out.

A licensing and certifying officer searched the bus and discovered the following: two six-inch Faital Pro Speakers, two eight-inch Faital Pro Speakers, a 1000 watt power amplifier, and an Audiopipe, all instruments of music that were not authorized by the prescribed authority.

The Prosecutor asked the Magistrate to impose maximum fines to send a clear message to other minibus operators. Harry has since paid his fine. He is expected to be charged with assaulting the minibus passenger later today.

Mr. Ramakant ,take note of the above .

The PPP banned Burnham's culture. they changed the law. People cannot behave badly now, if they do, they go to jail.
