Three critical after Enmore drive-by shooting

Three persons are now hospitalised as a result of a drive-by shooting incident at Enmore Village, East Coast Demerara yesterday. The shooting occurred in the vicinity of a wash bay in Enmore last evening.
Ron Robertson, 32, was shot three times in his back; Shauna Persaud, 29, was shot in her chest and 24-yearold Toby Pooran Etwaroo was shot twice in his abdomen.
All three persons were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) by public-spirited neighbours who own a bus.
An eyewitness recounted that (the injured persons) were all β€˜liming’ at the wash bay, when police officers allegedly drove up and asked them whether they had interfered with anyone. The witness said that soon after the police officers drove off, a silver car with tinted windows drove up and opened gunfire on them.
About a dozen shots rang out. The witness said that the car drove off at an alarming speed leaving Robertson, Persaud and Pooran all lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. The eyewitness further stated that when the police came on the scene they did not chase after the shooters.
Another person who was in the vicinity at the time, stated that she saw Pooran Etwaroo running towards her holding his abdomen; she said he fell on the ground and said, β€œGyal mi get shoot”. She then raised an alarm, alerting other persons from the area, who came out and transported the persons to the hospital.
Kaieteur News was made to understand that the injured persons were undergoing operations late last night.

Ramnarine confirms increase in crime in β€˜D’ Division

Over the past six weeks, businessmen across the West Coast and West Bank Demerara have been complaining bitterly about the apparent increase in armed robberies in the region.
At Vreed-en-Hoop alone, approximately 20 robberies were reported over the last few weeks.
Yesterday, the acting Commissioner of Police, David Ramnarine confirmed that β€˜D’ Division reported a nine percent increase in serious crime as compared to the same period last year. However, he explained that plans are in place to reduce this.
On the other hand, β€˜A’ Division recorded a 24 percent decrease in serious crime; β€˜B’ Division recorded a 14 decrease in serious crime; β€˜C’ Division recorded an 11 percent decrease in serious crime; β€˜E’ Division recorded a 27 percent decrease in serious crime; β€˜F’ Division recorded a 51 decrease and β€˜G’ Division recorded a 29 percent in serious crime.
As it relates to serious crime countrywide, there has been a 19 percent decrease from January 1 to September 23, last as compared to last year.

Too much guns in the wrong hands, all this lawlessness started under the PPP and it continues, this government need to act raid all the suspicious houses, stop and frisk suspects to retrieve the guns, when the PPP shouts discrimination tell them to haul their ass.Guyana population is too small to have this amount of crime.

Another shit head thought. What happened from 1964 to 1991? You seem to have selective memory. What happened to the "kick down door, robberies, rapes and murder" from that period? The slate is wiped clean? You forgave them for their transgressions against the coolies? Only during the PPP time there was serious crimes?

So who was doing the killing and where did they get the guns to terrorize people? People made guns. My brothers got guns from Suriname during that time. A black family hid their(my brothers) guns in the mud oven they had. If you wanted a gun during that time, you could have had one. The black family got a lot of wild meat during that time. When the police would go to the black family's house, the family would tell them to go away.
