I heard it on BBC World News the next morning in my North Road GT room. A few weeks before that fateful November 18, two rows of white youths had sat near me in Metropole cinema. I heard one of them say: "We need a movie house like this in Jonestown." I thought about them when I heard the BBC report.

My first year in high school. Teachers broke the news to us.
High school, I used speak to the white women sometimes in big market when Jones let them come to town, they used to wear all white with head scarves.
My family and I arrived in NYC the year before and we were still adjusting to a new country, when the news came on the tv. We were stunned, never heard of it while we lived there. Then everyone asked us 'so you're from the Jim Jones place?' We wanted to answer 'yes, the American JJ murdered his people in that country.'
What did Burnham or Guyana get from allowing Jim Jones to get that land in the interior?

I heard lots of stuff, don't know what to believe.
While on the Demerara River ferry traveling to work, one morning a friend said "he heard some thing happened to some church people in the interior", when the news broke my friend hearsay was true.
It was said that Viola Burnham and some security was first at the scene and they stole money and other valuables.
Never knew that there was a place called Jonestown until then.
Vish, we heard that part of the deal was that Forbes and his Ministers get tons of US$, and fun with the white girls and boys.

I was in the Rupanunui when I heard the news. I remember a guy telling me that he had seen Jones give a sermon at Brickdam cathedral. He also told me that Jones had young white children begging people for money in Georgetown for his church.

The first on the scene was the son of Winifred Gaskin. A few days later he took a flight to the USA with several suitcases!
